The lack of money will buy you a nice place in a detention cell with plenty other foreigners who thought that there'd be another Amnesty, without being International.

Thought we were talking about prostitution -----

Hey, totally irrelevant! Nobody enforce those rules and laws anyway. Why would they think that a new law would be different? :cheesy::cheesy:

If you think that law is not enforced (selectively) you need to get out more. You really don't know anything about Thailand.

Does that mean I will have more sex as well? Can I tell my wife it was a scientific experiment?

Never gonna happen. I don't want to make false accusations against the police, but I remember when the current law was passed in December, 1996 (just months before the Dom Yum Gung Financial Meltdown). There were some good things in it, but they still allowed police to arrest women for prostitution. When asked, the spokesperson for some do-gooder NGO came out with, "We have to be able to arrest them in order to be able to help them." It's an essential part of the economy, yet it's illegal. Still, if you notice, they don't apply the law so strictly as to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. In the United States that's called prosecutorial discretion, and it is used in exactly the same way.

In Chiang Mai, there is a big karaoke nightclub. As a Thai woman drily explained to me, it's known for karaoke with options. The nightclub is owned by a VERY senior policeman in Chiang Mai.

These women do it to survive. If they had the choice most would not do it. Punishing them is stupid. the government should be finding them jobs outside the sex industry

Why would they want that?

This would only increase the market supply if it becomes legal, which would eventually lead to lower prices on customers behalf. Bring it on, lol.

Or a union, to keep prices up.

Because I do. It's the same reasons everywhere. You actually think it's normal behavior to sell your body to various men for money?  This an excerpt from a study........................

The most common stereotype of prostitutes is that they are all street walkers, drug addicted, controlled by pimps, and willing to accept a few dollars for their services.

In reality, this “oldest profession” falls into several categories. Yes, there are the street walkers whose lives are awful. However, there are also those women who provide sexual favors in massage parlors, small hotels and out of their own apartments. At the end of the spectrum are those women who are escorts or professional sex workers. Often, they work for themselves and charge sums of money that can run into thousands of dollars for a night out. Sometimes their clients are  politicians, sports figures, and Hollywood movie stars.

There are many reasons for women becoming sex workers and escorts. Some of these women have stated that they are attracted by the large sums of money they can earn while they are still young. Others see it as a way to pay for university education and further advancement. Most state that they intend to leave the business once they have earned the amount they want or need. They also see themselves as helping men save their marriages by supplying something they cannot get at home, or helping them chase away loneliness when they are on business trips.

At the other end of the spectrum of prostitution are the street walkers. Most of them are addicted to drugs, and many were forced into prostitution against their will. Sex trafficking is an international, multi billion dollar business involving criminals who kidnap and enslave girls. Girls as young as ten-years of age are snatched from their countries and sold into prostitution far away from their native homes.

Again, it’s important to avoid generalizing about how women get into prostitution. Studies show that large numbers of prostitutes were sexually abused during their childhood.  It is the fact of the sexual abuse, more than anything else, that seems to underlay how and why some of them become prostitutes. These are the people most likely to be addicted to drugs as well as to develop, or already have, serious health problems, not the least of which is HIV as well as other STDs.

Finally, there are women who see prostitution as their way out of poverty. While they may choose to sell themselves, it is economic necessity that drives them. These are people who are unable to get jobs and are sometimes the only bread winners in the family..............................In any event, it isn't normal behavior in any country or for any reason. Poverty being the only rational decision, but again, you can always get a job somewhere, for less money yes, but without the danger or stigma involved.

All the nonsense you post on prostitution is based on the west, and it's/your outdated prudish Christian morality.

Many Thai ladies do it while they're waiting for a husband to roll along.

Or just because they're bored.

no you dont. in thailand its an easy quick way to make a buck,

economic reality send them to the profession,

some view it as a temporary occupation for the specific reason to make a fortune to pay education/business,

others to pay for the high life they want, and most for

just paying bills, and this is the most effortless job around

I'm reminded of the story of the philosopher who offered a beautiful woman a million dollars to sleep with him. She agreed. He then offered her a single dollar. She said " Certainly not, do you think I'm a whore?". He replied " We've already established that, now I want to agree on the price".

Moral: All women have a price, and a cost.

Because you live the trade doesn't mean you're knowledgeable on the subject. try researching. I'm hardly a prude, and being a Christian has nothing to do with it. Prostitution, and the reasons for it, are the same everywhere, especially in undeveloped countries. Guessing what "many" Thai ladies do is just a guess, and has no base in facts. Even if you've lived here 20 years, you haven't met over 99& of the women that live here.Sexual addiction is one thing. Getting paid to sell your body is another. I'm sure I've been with more women than you have, and I only paid for 2, back when I was 17. Hardly a prude, but learned along the way that women are humans and not objects for my enjoyment. That would be how you think from all of your posts.

Yes, I do. In Thailand, as in any other country, you can get work, even if untrained. I'm guessing that you are for the profession? And also maybe for the overpopulation based on sexual immorality? Millions of fatherless children because they leave, and millions of motherless children because they leave to make money to support those fatherless children, and only seeing their kids twice a year? I'm guessing you've never had an STD? Or raised a child as a single mother prostitute, showing them that it's okay, as long as you make money? Comments here show the disturbed thinking of some, and the intelligence and morality of others. But keep them coming, as it's fun to watch you implode and show your true colors.

Tell us again how old you are, and how old your Thai wife is?

But your 'much younger' Thai wife is with you because you're fit, hansum, witty, intelligent, speak Thai fluently and have a great personality.

It's not for money at all ...............

I never said it wasn't for money also, as is all marriages. I see many gorgeous women here with obese and heavy drinkers who do nothing to either help around the house or at the family farm, buying their wives with money and content to have sex with a younger women that has no moral compass also. Most women want someone to take care of them, even if they make their own or more money themselves. All the other women in my life were younger also, some as much as 20 years, which is close to the gap of my wife and I. They weren't with me because of money, as I've never had money to burn. And I did have custody of all of my children, which should tell you something about some of the bad choices I've made with yes, immoral, disturbed women, and also my character. This was in the US, where it's hard to get custody if you're  a man. I don't speak Thai much at all. And I consider myself average looking, although I've been told otherwise here and also there. I'm 64, wife 41,if you need to know. I believe your thinking is skewed. You have told us you didn't fight for your children and they don't talk to you because you haven't contacted them. This and all the women you've been with here are paid for. Do you suppose your thinking is based on your experiences and not others?...............Victimless?       https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1184042-hunt-on-for-irishman-accused-of-murdering-thai-woman-in-pattaya/

im not for the profession, just accepting it is around

and think corruption will go down if its legalized.

overpopulation is not my problem and if the land can support

the weight then there is no overpopulation.

yes i had std and thats just another reason to not have anything to do with woman, i still think it should be legalized to reduce corruption.

no i have never raised a child, let alone as a prostitute,

i maintain i want it legalized though, for the purpose of reducing the rampant corruption in thailand.

implode ? wut m8 ?

coming back to your delusion that

traffickers sent them to work as a prostitute,

you are dead wrong about that as far as thailand is concerned, they do it from economic reasons alone, those reasons may vary but its all down to economic reasons
