I like Sizzler as well but their food is mostly deep fried stuff I could not eat the German pork leg as it was fried and not prepared like in Germany. These fries on your photo are overdone as well.

Just because a business files for bankruptcy does not necessarily mean it is going out of business.  It is often just a restructuring of their debt.

I have never been to a Sizzler outside the US. I never though the meat was all that good. It was offten said " Sizzler! Now you know where all the old dairy cows go." It was cheap and you got what you paid for.

Sizzler in Australia only had 9 stores left as of February. I seem to remember it was popular with pensioners, they'd load up from the salad bar. To me, the protein on offer was pretty ordinary.

I beg to differ on the subject of steak. Gippsland eye fillet is so tender it can be cut with a fork. To me, American steak is too fatty. Feedlot produced, our cattle graze on real grass as nature intended.

Agree that Australian beef is superior to American beef. Lucky to get plentiful supplies of it in Thailand.

Unfortunately you have an incorrect source. The criticism was aimed at the Muslim travel van announced at almost the same time.

 

If you quote the original statements you'll see what was really said, you have now quoted an opinion piece.

 

But there are plenty of threads on the actions and inactions of trump, this is one about Sizzlers.

Correct. Milnor Group also owns Thailand's Mister Donut brand, which was a US brand but has ceased to exist in the US

Toys Are Us went bust in US, but they are still operating in at least Thailand and Hong Kong. So maybe Sizzler is here to stay. If you're in Bangkok you can go to 1112delivery.com and order stuff from there delivered to your home for free.

Sizzlers Pattaya is mostly Thai customers and a few expats. its doing fine. Thailand doesn't have "Fall and Winter" we have the dry season.

In fact I expected to happen long ago (7 or 8 years ago). when I was still in LA there was a sizzler near where I used to live. The restaurant was almost empty everyday and had only a few customers for lunch. In less than 100 yards away, on the opposite side there was a "Norms" restaurant that was always pact almost any hour of the day and they served 24 hour daily. 
I could imagine that sizzler will close soon since I knew other locations that are not doing anything better. It took actually longer than what I thought.

As you may realise by now, by reading the thread, there is no relationship between this sizzler filing and sizzler Thailand.

You have it exactly backwards.

 

If the virus had NOT been ignored from the start, the US would not be in the horrible situation it is now in. 

 

But they are in this situation specifically BECAUSE it was ignored and downplayed. 

 

And Trump especially, continues to downplay it, holding super-spreader rallies with large maskless crowds.

 

Restaurant chains like Sizzler, and many independent restaurants too, won't survive the coming winter. If restaurants opened their doors to asymptomatic customers, they would soon have to close after staff and other customers got sick. 

 

None of this is rocket science. Yet people still want to hold on to magical thinking and either deny or waive away the fact that there aren't now over 200,000 dead in the US.

Sizzler's fate was sealed some time ago with its declining revenues. The quality of its products has not been particularly good. 18 months ago, its C-Suite started to jump ship.

 

in 2019 Technomic reported that Sizzler system sales declined 11% over the past five years, to $267 million from $300 million. Unit count declined to 130 from 156. The company’s compound annual growth rate over the past five years has been -2.4%.

Other similar chains also experienced  shrinkage  -5.5% average.

 

The economy has been shifting for years as people move away from processed  microwaved precooked food.  ever hear of Olive garden, Outback,  Red Lobster, TGIF, Applebees? All have had problems in the past 5 years. Even McDonalds  was hit hard some time ago. When I discovered Carl's Jr. in Bangkok I was excited. The noverlty of a real milkshake and their real chicken  strips wee my favourite. I was saddened when the Bangkok PatPong unit closed.
