"“We are waiting to hear that the Prime Minister has approved the extension. That was supposed to happen by 4:30pm today,” he said." So still not official ????

"Lt Col Udom admitted that he had yet to be informed exactly what happens with all the extensions already approved.

“Foreigners who have applied for an extension but have yet to have the full extension stamped in their passport will be stamped to stay until Oct 31,” he said." Interesting that they for the first time is taking such cases into consideration!

"Asked how he felt about his officers being overworked for weeks making sure foreigners’ applications to extend their permits to stay were being accepted before the Sept 26 deadline expired, to only now have all their hard work rendered pointless by a single decision in Bangkok, Lt Col Udom said, “What else can I do? This is Thailand.” Hahaa what a joke indeed!!!

So it has been agreed to announce that the Interior Ministry is to use Section 17 of the Immigration Act 2522 to extend the time [for foreigners to] follow Section 35 and 37(5) by allowing them to stay as a special case from Sept 27 to Oct 31. Foreigners who are not able to travel out [of Thailand] and intended to stay after Oct 31 can go to ask for an extension at immirgation for their permits to stay to expire Oct 31

translation: same again next month lads!

"After October, a new immigration regulation will allow foreigners to apply for 60-day extensions to remain in the country if they are unable to leave due to limited flights or other issues, Pornchai Kuntee, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, told Reuters."

Please, A thread with over 350 post about an amnesty that nobody knows exist? Where is the real information about that the visa amnesty will be extended? Not the emergency decree! Is there any documentation of that or any person to refer to that is initiated? The only thing we have is:

Here everybody is trusting an unsigned, leaked document that for all we know might be fabricated. And then we have all our RB, that goes with the train and put his trust into such unsecure information. It also stand that an announcement may be made, and it was not. The extension they referred to was the emergency decree extension.

Now we are crying for another 300 posts until tomorrows cabinet meeting? Really! We are not talking tourists here. They would be happy to come home and most have already left freely before the amnesty ended. Get a grip and get your papers in order if you wish to stay in Thailand.

The facts we have right now is that the amnesty ended 26th of September, and that they have been nice and waived the overstay fine until tomorrow. Just take a deep breath of real air and live in the real world!

And all these bitter posts and replies for nothing, at least you can have some rest now...

Have a link ?

Reuters is not a thai news source & the 'confirmation' is not more confirmed than what phuketnews reported:

"The matter is subject to cabinet approval on Tuesday."

What is new though is that after 31oct no more extensions but instead 60 day paid 'amnesty for stranded tourist'. Interesting ????

Well if it all gets approved tomorrow ...

Reuters employs some 2,500 journalists and 600 photojournalists in about 200 locations  but according to you not in Thailand

That article also says this: "with repatriation flights the only means of leaving the country" which is completely false. Just because it's Reuters doesn't mean it's necessarily accurate.

Hey, if we’ve sent over 500k to a Thai bank account over the last 6 months, is there a new business visa we can apply for?

For businessmen, non-immigrant visas of various types will be issued for those who do not have work permits. Copies of bank statements showing deposits over the past six months of not less than 500,000 baht, or the equivalent, are required.

Sweet, so why did they insist we all leave before the 26th then? Not only that they waited 2 days after the deadline to announcing a further extension. Totally not helpful to those of us that actually followed the rules and left already.

You need 500K and 6 months of bank statements if you have a non immigrant visa but NO work permit ?

what if you have non B and a work permit acceptance letter seeing as in order to get a non B for a BOI company you need a WP3 letter as that’s one of the requirements when applying for a non B at a thai consulate outside of Thailand ...

do you still need the 500k and 6 months of bank statements if you have work permit acceptance letter ?

Because he said business people without permits,  I think it’s meant for the digitally employed / remote working business people who spend enough money to warrant a long term visa.... the CCSA was talking about this relentlessly to the government and it appears they have now listened!

Meanwhile, I like many others went down the 60-day extension route, and when I asked what would happen at the end of that I was told that I had to leave Thailand. I've been here 25 years or so, have a wife, a house, a car and family, but have to get out of the country unless I brought 400,000 baht into the country. Which I hurriedly did because it needs to be there for 60 days, even though I had preferred to keep my money in the UK instead.

Nobody with legally recognized family ties here has to "get out of the country" if they use an agent.
