Trying to protect others despite thinking it's futile to even try

Greetings, some advice required here. I have contacted one official person about this but in truth I don't really know how to go about it. 

 

Unfortunately I have to begin rather awkwardly and reduce things down to being caught massively in the rain and being a victim of circumstance. Thanks to quick thinking and having studied Thai for ages, I got myself out of a situation that was going to go badly wrong and could easily have had me banged up even though I didn't do a thing wrong. On Soi 4 Sukhumvit I got caught in very heavy rain and floods, and needed to get inside. I don't drink and dislike bars, so that wasn't an option. Stupidly some woman who didn't seem like a prostitute at all said her room was meters away and i could wait in the foyet or something. So I went with her but she invited me to her room to meet her boyfriend. I was absolutely drenched and needed somewhere to sit out the rain so agreed, she didn't seem like she was up to anything. Then things got rather strange. She had a room in a very cheap hotel on a side street and on the floor below almost every room door was open and it was full of street girls doing drugs. That's not my thing at all, so I just went up a floor and into the room of the woman and her boyfriend. All seemed normal at first but then she started acting a bit strangely. She must have made nearly 10 phone calls in about two minutes, and tried various things. What I heard was, I've got a foreigner here, how much can we get for that. A minute or so later, her boyfriend got some bong out and was offering me narcotics. I was not happy and dried myself off quickly and got up. She quickly followed me out and suggested I go to a certain room where a friend of hers was, and I admit she was a very pretty young woman. I stopped to talk to her for a minutw by the door then the door closed and they started having conversations. I'm bloody adamant they were calling mafia guys and getting them to come round or have me set up because several times they asked how much they would get out of it and what they needed to do. There were debates about using this person and that person, and they kept calling to ask exactly what they were getting out of it and double checking to see if I was following. They were trying to set me up, there is no doubt. It is not paranoia because it took about 15 minutes and they made several large mistakes, thinking I couldn't understand what was being said.  I could also here the woman downstairs in the reception sounding unhappy with it all and wanting to know what was going on.  I got fed with it and decided to walk out and they didn't like it at all and were rather shocked, and one even tried to follow me out wanting to know many, many things. WHere I would go, which route I would take, whether she could meet me there and give me something for free, whether I WANTED TO BUY THIS, TO BUY THAT OVER AND OVER and so on.

 

It's absolutely clear to me they were trying to set me up and get people higher up involved so the police could find me in a room with drugs and charge me money or arrest me. To be honest, I'm bloody furious and I feel its my duty to inform the authorites and tell them the exact name of the location where its going on. It wasn't well executed but they were trying to get me in the <deleted> were I would have to either cough up some serious cash or get bangted up. I would not like to see that happen to someone else. Had I been a tourist with no ability to understand thai, they would have had me for sure. Is it worth informing the police? Whether they will do anything I don't know, that's the problem. What people do in their own time I don't care about at all but when they try to trick others into to get them in trouble and make money out of it, that I won't have and I am fairly sure sooner or later they are going to profit from someone.

Sure but they will catch some unsuspecting fellow, its others I am trying to protect. Had I not been itermediate and above at thai for a long time, they would have had me trapped. I knew what they were doing. Very underhanded and nasty.

Oh I needed to be sure, I was there about 15 mins. They were getting mafia type people round and bring ing girls in with drugs, they knew what they were doing, their reaction when I stood up and got ready to leave was a dead give away

I'm tempted to just tell the hotel owner I am very unhappy about what nearly happened and will be back in an hour with the police. They will search your hotel and arrest people, and this will happen again next week. That should shake therm up.

there were about twenty girls getting high in that place, how can the police not know about it.

Walk away, and be happy it did not develop into something worse. As BritManToo will tell you, believing women here or anywhere else for that matter is sheer idiocy.

What makes you think reporting the incident to the police will achieve anything? And what happens if you report to the police who happen to be in on the scam?

lol, for me it's the opposite - I would never trust the aid of any foreigner in this country, ever..

it always baffles me how people can get into situations like that. it wouldn't even cross my mind to follow a total stranger anywhere just because I'm soaked, considering there is no shortage of places in that street where it's possible to take shelter.

at the latest, all the people doing drugs with open doors would have made me leave.

Well, I think its only a matter of time before they profit from someone's demise. They could have got me banged up. WOuldn't wish that on anyone. Thankfully drugs not my thing otherwise I would have been in trouble.

it was literally 20 meters and i don't go into bars. it seemed okay but yes when I saw what was goin on on the floor below, I realized I had made a mistake but was also in disbelief to some degree.

It's a numbers thing.  The odds that any well meaning gesture on your part will end badly for you far exceed the odds that you'll be doing the next guy any favors.

try reading it more carefully, the street was flooded and 7-11 was the only other option.  I was trying to dry off and be sure of what I suspected they were trying on, when I was then I left so you can drop the false antithesis...

Unless he was at the Blanket and Bean Hotel or the Nana Hotel, there are no others that I know of that are currently open on the main road until you hit the hi-end hotels past the Hilary 1 bar and 7-11 on the opposite side of the road.  Maybe he was near Rajah Alley and down one of the side Soi's where there are condo's.

With most cheap bars all closed and being stuck in a small fan room perhaps causes hallucinations?
