Granted, this has been the role of media since the invention of the printing press. I can not but help wonder if Trump has been  made well aware of the probability he will lose the election thus eliciting a vindictive stance. That being that if  the popular vote is so far against then the  peasants  can starve !

Trump's motive(s) for winning are unlike most.  Firstly, he wants to stay out of jail.  And the power of the office would give him more time to turn law enforcement and the courts to his liking.  Secondly, his company needs the business that he won't get if he's out-of-office.  Not just foreign dignitaries, but who else will pay for those $650 rooms if not the Secret Service.  And of course, Trump wants to win.  Because it sucks to lose.  The man is such a full-blown narcissist that these are the sort of stuff that he cares about.
