Jungceylon Is Charging For Parking Now!

Last Saturday evening I went out with my wife for dinner in Patong.

As many times before we went for parking to Jungceylon in the basement.

Coming back after 3 hours we were stopped at the exit gate from a parking guard.

He asked if we bought any thing from Jungceylon and wanted to see a receipt.

As we have had no receipt we had to pay 40.- Baht parking fee (got a receipt for it with time stamp on it).

I am not complaining about this parking fee but it should have been announced or a clear sign at the entrance for their customers who are parking.

Has not happened to me on Sat evening, but I parked outside and the booths were unmanned. So maybe they are just doing 'trial runs'.

They are currently asking for a receipt or charging if you dont have it about 80% of the time..

I can see they may have a problem with lots of people using the free parking and not doing any shopping in JC at all.. Town has a terrible lack of good car park space.. But they really need to spell things out clearly.

Was asked for a receipt on Saturday and had one from Carrefour - I think I saw a sign saying that the first 3 hours were free if you spent 100 baht or more.

Not too sure about what happens if over 3 hours...

They gave me a tiny slip of paper saying in not very good English that you need a receipt for a free three hour stay.

There is also a sign near the escalator down from Carrefour, again which has not been proofread by a native English speaker which I think says that you need a receipt of at least 100 baht.

It's probably a good thing as I'm sure manjy people have been using Jungceylon as an easy parking spot in Patong (myself included) but they should make it clear and apply the rules consistently. Anyway the car park is supposed to close at 10pm so it still stops people parking there for their night out.
