Thanathorn, former FWP leaders to be tried over protest

The Pathumwan Municipal Court has agreed to try former members of the Future Forward Party (FWP) on charges related to a flash-mob protest in Pathumwan last December.

 

Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, former FWP leader and now head of the Progressive Movement, was at the Pathumwan Municipal Court to hear the decision on Thursday, along with other former FWP MPs Piyabutr Saengkanokkul, Pannika Wanich and Pita Limjaroenrat.

 

 

The former FWP members were charged with holding a public assembly without permission, obstruction of a BTS Skytrain station, holding an assembly within 150 metres of Sa Pathum Palace, and using amplifiers without permission.

 

Thanathorn said prior to the hearing that the government was making a mistake by arresting pro-democracy leaders.

 

“The political rallies to push for changes to the Constitution will continue. I ask all of you to be encouraged,” he said.

Nothing like silencing the opposition, and those that are trying to do the right thing and take back the country from those that have driven the good ship Thailand aground.  Sad to see that the PPRP walks on water along with the yellow shirts but those on the other side get persecuted and prosecuted all the while this Government lets the citizens go under with very little assistance.

They believe that it will cause a violent reaction from this group of protestors.  However, the playbook has changed and they will not allow that to happen or it will discredit the movement.  This is a fight for true freedoms and not just a few scraps of handouts.  This group of dinosaurs better sit up and pay attention, because the boomerang of cause and effect is already in motion.

These dinosaurs are capable and willing to do the biggest smut, though. 

 

I expect soon they will dress some of their paid yellow violent thugs with black T-Shirts instead, and order them to join the protests and to start violence against the police from inside of the protests. Classical agent provocateurs.

 

The dinosaurs now need violence to give their intended crackdown some legitimacy on the international stage. And they want a crackdown and a decisive battle soon. They want a reset, to start a new episode of the old Thai cycle of suppression again, and to survive the next ten years, till it will start again, and again, and again. This is their intention. It worked so well during the last decades, they want to continue this game.

 

The protesters are aware of this evil strategy, of course. Impossible to predict the final outcome this time. The support of the protesters now is much wider in the Thai society than ever before. And the world is watching closer than ever before.

I see police wish to charge pro-Demorcacy protesters with Sedition (116) for their participation in the German Embassy gathering.  minions who protested earlier that same day/venue are apparently not subject to the same "laws"?

Prayut will probably crack down, with some bloodletting. That will only make things worse for the Thai economy, because most potential tourists post_COVID will avoid Thailand as a result.

It was also "interesting"  to see  how all the Thai news channels covering that event (yes every channel that I looked at)  switched to recorded footage   of that "Bim" bloke  ( who raised loads of money for charities )  resigning from  his position  instead of letting the viewers hear the  protesters read out their letter that was delivered to the ambassador,  there was a  split screen  muted protesters reading their letter.

Blatant provocation I believe they have shown their hand now and decided they want violence in order to get the army on the streets

 

That's just one of the many problem's with the junta they are very dim and not smart enough to see that most of the world can see right through them as can most of the youth

 

I fear it is going to get messy very soon and I hope the protesters have a plan that's one advantage they have over the thicko's in charge of the junta

Bear in mind, they (government) certainly aren't endowered with the intelligence required to even lead a boy scout troop, let alone a country like Thailand with all its complexities.

The reality is that if and when they lose control, they will be so hit with overturning of immunity agreements and dragged through the courts that trying to beat down the opposition is the easier and most reliable option for now

In this point I disagree strongly.

 

Taksin was PM already when he abused power from this quite powerful position he had, while he felt likely quite safe. The situation with Thanathorn is completely different. He is not even an MP anymore, and he is facing numerous hassles and severe dangers already. He might even have to go to jail for his fight for democracy and fairness, or have to leave the country for the rest of his days.

 

Everyone who believes that someone makes such huge sacrifices, and even continues to do this, just to get some more money, must be completely wrong. Thanathorn is a very honest, fair and brave man. I have no doubt at all about this.

 

If there are Thai people believing something different, they are very likely victims of the governmental propaganda machinery already, which does everything it can to discredit and disparage him.

Without it the old play doesn't work.

 

There will be no show of "mediation".

 

There will be no restraint........ultimately none from either side.

That is so true!  My wife didn't put it this way (as I will) as they don't seem to have a devil in buddhism like christians do, but the fact is 'The devil is working his evil, so evil is at play at a high level'.  She wants the evil gone and all the associated evil to be gone with it!

You must imagine living in exile is wonderful?...So many Thais have departed Thailand due to the never ending threat of prison and death here, by the relentless tactics of the elite, the government and the military.....then they attack the families...and of course, the frequent disappearances. All learned from China. Hardly a joke!
