What is it like getting around the main parts of Bangkok just now due to the protests? Are the BTS and Mrt running as normal? Thanks.

I switched from klong boat to bus at Democracy Monument Friday before last.  The yellers were lining up on the sidewalk.  I was getting eyeballed by the bib, but I was the only farang, and I had a decent size book bag, as I was returning from Patts..so good for them.  I just looked them in the eyes and smiled...felt out of place, but not uncomfortable.  The busses will u turn a block or two earlier, and there can be some gridlock..just don't be in a hurry, as usual, and have some water.  I grabbed a great duck with rice for 50 very close to the gathering.  Easy enough to turn and walk the opposite direction if things get hairy.  There are almost always multiple options for transport and a metered cab is rarely the cheapest, safest, or fastest..
