Klong Tan police had little difficulty solving a gold robbery at a shop in Bangkok yesterday.

The thief dropped his Thai identification card at the scene of the crime.

Police arrived at the Pornsuwan gold shop in Tesco Lotus's Pattanakarn branch to find the staff in a state of shock.

A man dressed in a white shirt, black pants with a hat to conceal his identity had come in and asked to look at some gold necklaces and inquired about the price.

He was shown two, each of two baht gold weight. He grabbed them and disappeared on his motorcycle.

The loot is worth about 115,000 baht at today's prices.

But police found an ID card with the name Pathompong Suknaen, 34, at the scene and were soon at the nearby Preuksa Villa housing estate in Soi Pattanakarn 38 where a Honda Skoopy was parked and a man was acting suspiciously.

Pathompong was taken on a swift reenactment and detained.

He said he was a food delivery driver and hadn't got enough money to live so he decided to turn to robbery.

Certainly not the brightest robber produced in Thailand ????

Might be an idea to drop someone else's ID next time.

I am seriously wondering if I would help out these days.  I actually want to see him get away.

One time some people were screaming and a guy ran past me.  It turns out he stole something from Tops.  I didn't understand what was going on at the time.

After the past few years I've had I don't think I can morally stop a robbery.  He must be in a bad way.

I bet his mother is still proud of him.

He should make a perfect monk or politician on his release ????

No mention if he still had the 2  gold baht weight on him when arrested

Yes, as long as he didn’t drop the gold as well!
