orchidlady Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Has anyone used a service/person to translate (explain) what the Thai lines on an application are requesting? This is to file the application for continuing Thai Social Security insurance payments on my own. At most probably 30 minutes needed but will pay for one hour. I have tried translation services and since I only would need one hour none interested or price was ridiculous because they are used to providing services for visiting businessmen. I prefer to not have to ask my former employer's international teacher liaison for help. Do not need a lawyer, certified translator, etc. Universities are preparing for final exams so most likely a student not interested. (Several Thai friends offered to go in person with me to file papers and have kept postponing, flaked out or had last minute out of town work requirements.) As long as the documents are filled out I can go by myself to the office.
lopburi3 Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 With a bit of luck it might be on a website that Google can translate for you.
RichCor Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 If you have a smartphone with wireless Internet you can download/install google "Lens" that can translate the text it sees in real-time. I use it on images and forms all the time. 1
orchidlady Posted November 25, 2020 Author Posted November 25, 2020 RichCor, thank you so much. It took me 1 hour using LENS to do the 4 pages but only because like most local government agencies they ask for a lot of totally irrelevant information-combining needed information with questions that could only be described as survey gathering. Great tool, will be using it whenever I am out and wondering what a sign on a door says. 1
