Trader apologises after "half each" promotion ends up costing student more

A student who was out with friends at Ubon Ratchathani's walking street market decided to stop for some tasty Ju Neua - a kind of raw meat dish with condiments - that was listed as 100 baht.

She wanted to avail herself of a "half each" promotion that had been advertised online.

But the trader charged her 110 baht instead saying that the extra ten baht was for "internet" charges.

Ornnapha the student responded by posting on Facebook saying it was most unjust.

Noi, 46, the trader told reporters later that she was new to the market and is not brilliant with computer technology.

She said it was all a mistake.

I'm guessing the she interviewed in person, and not by email or Line.

Several shops around our way add on 10 bht for the 'privilege' of paying by 50-50. Not surprised at all that there will be many similar cases around the country.

Ten Baht? Oh my God, why did I even waste my time reading this?

Well, better than 180 baht and the extra 80 baht is because you are a westerner.

I would imagine that she'll lose the ability to participate in this program for trying to gouge (if officially reported). Would be a great loss for her for sure, this comprises 50% of our sales and has helped many small business owners..

Makes me wonder how long she had been scamming others...

I'd go with 46 years, not including past lives/reincarnation.
