I visited a village school in the mountains on Nan many years ago. They kids only had one uniform and many had no shoes. Uniforms ar the great social equalizer, especially in many public schools. Many of the poorest kid will just skip school if they must wear raggedy clothes to school, and risk the embarassment.

Do you get the army going to schools and getting  children to chant how they must obey and the 7 ways to be Thai . According to the military

Not in Thailand. They occasionally have casual dress days without the school system collapsing on those days. If anything it made my students more relaxed and forthcoming.
