BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has reminded officials to remain diligent in screening and preventing the spread of COVID-19, in an effort to boost the confidence of people who plan to travel by the end of the year.

The Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Traisuree Taisaranakul, said that Gen. Prayut directed related units to reinforce COVID-19 precautionary measures, particularly in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, following reports that a number of people, who illegally entered the northern provinces, may pose a risk of COVID-19 infection.

Related units are to continue preventing illegal entry along the border, tracking down those who have snuck into the country and keeping a close watch on risk groups, so as to boost the confidence of people who plan to travel by the end of the year.

The Prime Minister also thanked and offered moral support to officers who have been working diligently, while asking the public for cooperation by not letting their guard down.

They are advised to wear face masks, wash their hands regularly and strictly follow all protocols recommended by the Ministry of Public Health. The government is confident in the country’s effective measures to limit the spread of COVID-19, as they have been able to detect positive cases quickly.

The Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, the Tourism and Sports Minister, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn and officials will travel to Chiang Rai tomorrow (Dec 8 ) to follow up on the situation.

They will visit the Center for Disease Control in Mae Sai district, the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, a quarantine facility at the Maekhong Delta Boutique Hotel and Ban Du fresh market, to offer moral support to the local people and officials from all units.

But Prayut has already said there are no 'Super Spreaders" related to this outbreak of Covid.

And now they have Caught 50 illegals entering from Laos

the track and trace procedures and the effectiveness in their implementation here in Thailand has made most of the world look like fools comparatively. Thai people recognize their government has done an excellent job (so far) in keeping them safe and healthy, which imo is the main job of governments everywhere - though not in the west apparently..
