Why are you blaming the government for this?

Why not blame the organisers and/or local government officials whose responsibility it is?

If it is allowed, government has not regulated properly. If not allowed, the organisers are to blame.

But many people inside for an event like that is not a good idea. Also the participants are now staying in a bubble, earlier they were travelling home in between matches. Crazy.

“The British home secretary, Priti Patel, said the government was talking to the French authorities about testing all hauliers leaving Britain, as she confirmed more than 1,500 lorries were stuck in Kent on Tuesday morning.”

Indeed, this has almost certainly been spreading around the entire world for months.

It was previously found in both the Netherlands and Denmark, now they also noticed it in the UK.

It's already everywhere.

Yes, found 1 ( one ) in NL. And 1 in any street in SW - UK

Macron refuses to lift blockade: Eurotunnel to bring 2000 lorries to UK but take NONE out

MORE chaos is expected to hit the British border today as lorries head into the UK with border restrictions still in place - and Emmanuel Macron refusing to lift the blockade.

Also all ferries are stopped, to Belgium, Netherlands. Has nothing to do with Macron.

Yep. Clearly our 'friends and partners' in the EU are trying to heap pressure on the UK to cave on their demands.

Ironically it might misfire, since if they're going to block everything anyway due to Covid then No Deal will be merely a pimple on the arze of the chaos.

Didnt think of that , the French could be using the blockade to put pressure on the UK to come to an agreement with them .

i only referred to him as it goes about the lorry's , besides he has the same rights to take control of France borders to keep France safe as possible against the big U.K. outbreak of  new strain  virus .

Solution could be  only ship the lorry containers only   keep the UK drivers in U.K ,  same way from France doing so keeping E.U. drivers in E.U.

Mean time repatriate the E.U. ones from U.K.  put them in Quarantine or severe testing in E.U.

same in reverse for the U.K drivers to U.K.

Both sides keeping their own on own grounds

That's not so easy done. All has to be loaded by hand + fork lift truck into containers, Container lines need to go to the very deep ports. Second: no container vessels available, therefore seafreigth from Asia went frok a US$ 750 to now US% 3500 per 20 ft. Third: as destination, all has to go the other way round.

.....and things had been going so well.......

Just been reading an update from the lorry drivers .

Most of them are E.U Nationals trying to return home for Christmas , after making their deliveries in the UK .

The UK supermarkets are full , just some poor French lorry drivers going to have to spend Christmas in their lorry cabins in Dover , whilst collecting parking tickets for illegal parking

yeah that last thing is really scandalous , let them pay for wrong parking ...., they could leave the lorry's behind of course ....probably only U.K. stuff .

Maybe some navy ship can drop them E.U. ????

Not just the French drivers trying to get home.  If you check the registration plates they are from many different countries in mainland Europe.  At the moment over 1,700 lorries waiting in Kent.  Yesterday at the live press conference Boris said there were about 150 lorries.  Immediately afterwards a live broadcast showed hundreds and hundreds of them all stationary.  Why does he continue to treat the public like idiots that would actually believe all his horse manure.

Boris was talking about the lorrys parked on the M20 , rather then the total amount of lorrys waiting in Kent .

New lorrys were arriving throughout the day to add to the number , so maybe he just had old information ?

Many companies already do this as SOP: load the trailer on, and go back. At the other end another driver picks up.

2 cases in the Netherlands nothing compared with the countless ones in the UK.  But I hear there are more in other countries that might have it. So it might be too late.

Yes...read Macron under some pressure as 300,000 French nationals in the UK wanting to return back to France for Xmas.

Yes...seen those reports...rather questions the idea that Macron is trying to pressure the UK into submission.

They've agreed to open it back up from midnight so I doubt it. Coercion will not work.

Judging from the crowds at the Darts Championship I am currently watching, there is no such thing as a pandemic going on right now. Are they all living in an alternate universe?  How was that ever allowed given that football teams are having to play to empty stadiums. There is no logic in the whole management of this in the UK. And only the government is to blame for allowing this. No wonder the statistics are so grim there.

No public at the darts.
