The problem for a butcher is that his qualifications to do that work would no longer be recognized in France.

And he'd have to source his animals from France and the French use different cuts of meat to the UK as well.

He would have to convert to French high quality meat (de l’Aubrac ou de la Charolaise).

The Davis Downside Dossier

https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/the-davis-downside-dossier/

In October 2016, David Davis, the then Brexit secretary, told the House of Commons that “there will be no downside to Brexit at all, and considerable upsides”.

On this page we list the ‘considerable upsides’ and also the downsides, as we embark on Brexit after the end of the transition period – with the best possible access that we’ve been able to negotiate with the EU.

At the moment there are plenty of downsides, though the upsides are more elusive.

I have to admit, brexit is proving a real boost to jobs -French and other Eu jobs.

Now the government is advising firms to move jobs to the EU too

Relocate to EU to dodge Brexit bureaucracy, officials tell firms

https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/news/relocate-to-eu-to-dodge-brexit-bureaucracy-officials-tell-firms/24/01/

British businesses struggling to export to the continent are being encouraged by government trade advisers to set up separate companies inside the European Union to get around extra Brexit charges, paperwork and taxes.

Andrew Moss, head of Horizon Retail Marketing Solutions – based in Ely, Cambridgeshire – is registering a European company in the Netherlands in the coming weeks on the advice of a senior government adviser.

That means his firm – which sells packaging and marketing displays to customers in the UK and EU – will begin laying off staff in the UK, and taking on people in the Netherlands.

I've lost that zip file with all the positives from Brexit.....must do a search.

Martin Kettle......just about nails it....the Scots are leaving.....and best of luck.

Brexit also marked the Johnson government as emotionally English-centred – unable to display much feeling for the other parts of the UK. This is a trait that Johnson himself embodies in a particularly southern English way, as Theresa May had also done, though without the toxic sense of entitlement that Johnson exudes

And thus we have Brexit

Too late, we are not in this phase anymore, Brexit was irreversible a year ago and it has become a reality for 26 days now.

.. we are now entering the "reality" phase.

.. and national-populist politicians label this phase "teething problems"

In the words of Andrew Bowie, Conservative Party vice-chairman.

Quote

"Yes, there are going to be teething problems. And yes, there is red tape at the minute"

as it turns out, these "teething problems" feels more like root canal surgery without anaesthetic, wrenching the UK out of the single market and the customs union while claiming the UK promotes free trade.

  1. EU Financial markets and assets are going back to Europe
  2. exporting British SME are advised that the only way they can go on selling is to move investments and jobs out of the UK
  3. major industries are rethinking their just-in-time supply chains

... other major consequences appear, in the services sector and in diplomacy like the UK having to bow to EU demands to give full credence to its ambassador (in a matter of weeks or days ?).

This is not an hypothetical "project fear", this is root canal surgery here and now.

.

You are wasting your time....the Brexiteers accept all this, they don't care one jot......it all pales into insignificance compared to the fact they are (they feel) sticking it to the Germans.

The English antithesis towards Germans was very useful when working as a consultant... if there was blame to be assigned to multiple teams - could easily just skate by blaming it on the German contingent.... and basically all they saw was red and never really bothered to look at the situation too closely...

Brexit just beginning.......,committees galore!

you bet

After the U.K.-EU trade deal scraped over the line on Christmas Eve, attention shifted to how exactly it will work in practice. Some businesses argue the disruption and costs triggered by the deal’s non-tariff barriers have already laid bare the shortcomings.

Yet Whitehall’s corridors echo with whispers of a more existential threat. A scramble is underway to try and implement the deal’s “institutional framework” — or, in the words of one official familiar with this effort, the “bat<deleted> ‘House of Cards’ bureaucracy” it demands.

from article above, fun time ahead ????

One British official familiar with efforts to create the committees said the deal had created a “mini-EU.” Another former U.K. official who worked in Brussels until last year said it would be like the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) council, the intergovernmental organization of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland — only far less transparent.

Are you sure they really desperate to keep the domain name? It appears to have been seized by EU forces at the moment anyway. What would be the tangible 'benefit' of an extension .eu that anyone could enjoy? The EU definition of enjoy is pretty dubious in most circumstances.

Well, it is Leave.EU who are complaining that because they are a UK organisation and so post Brexit no longer in the EU that they are longer able to use a .eu domain name!

No damage to the UK at all. Are you an EU patriot who would like to fight over an .eu domain extension? Well knock yourself out pal, cos it's not important at all.

I never said it damaged the UK, never said it damaged the UK in any way. I just pointed out the hypocrisy of Leave.eu wanting to retain the benefits of EU membership even after we've left and now complaining that leaving he EU meant just that; leaving the EU!

Which shows that Leave.eu obviously think it is important!

As you also did when you called the decision to stop them from using .eu as

Another example of EU pettiness

Typical Brexiteer; want all the benefits of membership even though we've left!

Unlike you, though, I don't refer back to one aspect of it whenever I've lost the argument!

Another pomposity post. Expected of course.

Not pompous; simply based upon the evidence of his posts.

Based on your posts, your own knowledge of UK history seems woefully lacking, too.

Has it not occurred to you that people can't be bothered to answer your questions /provide examples because you ignore the answers then ask the same thing a couple of weeks later?

No; because that is simply not true.
