Run the app.

When I do it always comes up as "No internet connection"

I've got the house WiFi Disabled

Mobile data and location Enabled

Any clues what I am doing wrong.

It should work just fine if mobile data is on and working (that's what I use). Can you access Thaivisa.com from your mobile? (as a check that you really do have mobile data).

EDIT Does your phone plan actually include data?

same same in all stores that have a QR code display at the front door, check-in or entrance, usually beside the temperature checking, hand gel dispenser and sign-in book for the Luddites.

The "Luddites" are those that do not follow the herd mentality and can live quite happily  without a phone permanently stuck to their ears....

During the first wave and the stress monkeys and fake news conspiracy theorists were making much of the intrusive nature of these apps, I chose to not install it. However, that was driven by the fact that although my smartphone isn't particularly stuck anywhere, it is connected by Bluetooth in my truck and I typically leave it there when I go into shops. I used the sign-in book instead, using my own pen to deflect the laughing boys that bang on about about using "infected" ones.

Now that we may be headed into a life with a more infectious mutation, in conjunction with a perceptible increase in non-compliance by most I encounter out and about (improper mask wearing, ignoring the automatic temp check, no gel, no distancing, etc..), I installed MorChana. I found it easy to configure and use and the hardest bit is NOT leaving it in the truck.

Haven't tried Thaivisa but Google works although "snail mail" slow, must be too slow for Thai Chana, using the house WiFi Thai Chana comes up in half a second or so.

A visit to the True Mobile shop seems to be warranted, albeit a right pain limited Thai on my side and non-existent English on the other.

The Thai Chana App is the trace and track system that uses the QR code to register who has been where and when, taking a photo of the QR code does absolutely nothing except clog up your photo galleries.

That's not how it worked previously, you scanned the QR code and it logged you in then you log out once you leave, no one is taking photos

You need to scan the QR code with the Thai Chana App or the Mor Chana App for it to be meaningful, I'm not suggesting taking a photo but scanning it without an appropriate reporting app would be the equivalent of just a photo.

If you scan without the app, it takes you to a website to log in and out. That's how I always do it.

Yes, and this quote is from a webfact report posted just 2 hours ago.

"Members of the public, particularly those residing in high risk areas now need to download the Mor Chana or Thai Chana contact tracing app, Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) spokesperson Dr Thaweesin Visanuyothin announced on Thursday.

The government’s Mor Chana and Thai Chana apps enable health workers to track a person’s movements and places they have visited in the event they may have come into contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19."

I have downloaded the Thai Chana App twice and have failed on both occasions to get it to work outside of my house.

I have the Mor Chana app on my smartphone, no problems at all, works fine, easier to enter a store by just flashing the Q-code than having to write my name & mob number in the book, safer too as I don't have to touch the pen that hundreds of others have handled.

As Khaosod state in their article , how can you punish poor people who do not own a smart phone , have no data plan or do not know how to use said app.

Not everybody in the country is tech savvie.

Run the app.

Click the big green "Scan QR" and point the camera at the QR code displayed in the shop.

You may have to click "close" to get the check-out screen.

On the way out click "check out" (no need to scan again).

Make sure you have the ThaiChana app (blue fist icon) not the more intrusive MorChana.

Thanks Crossy. However.... I click on the app and I get a screen which says "welcome to Thai Chana QR Scanner" At the bottom middle of the blank page is an orange circle. Do I have to point the back of my phone where the camera lenses are at the QR code displayed in the shop and click on this orange circle? ......Ah! I've just clicked on that circle here at home and a new screen appears which has a centre square which seems like I should point it at the QR code in the store and click again when in focus. Am I right here please?

Sounds good, the version I have doesn't need you to manually focus, as soon as it reads the QR it says checked-in.

Try pointing at any QR you have around, it should say invalid QR or some such.

OK. I've scanned a QR code on a hospital appointment slip and although it didn't say invalid it recognised the hospital and pointed me to their website. So looks good now. I'll have to try it in a mall next. Thank you for your help.
