Trump faces calls for removal, possible impeachment after Capitol chaos

Hang him high.  Barring that, impeach him a second time, even though time is short. Do not let his horrible actions go unpunished.  When the history of his failed, presidency is written, there needs to be a chapter on the SECOND impeachment. A president so awful he was impeached not once but twice.

The Constitution requires a two-thirds supermajority to convict a person being impeached.

I will say again, not refering to conviction.  This can be done anytime after the senate receives the articles of impeachment and requires a simple majority.  Trump would be banned from holding any federal govt position for life. Kow Jai????

IF the GOP and Pence had any balls they should invoke the  25th !

Blocking Trump on  social media  does nothing to stop his damage via executive  orders etc .

Understood, but that's not the path Pelosi is taking.  She's got the articles of impeachment already done.

Given the "rules" of impeachment  it  will take too long ! In the longer term if successful in a guilty outcome would remove him from further infliction politically but the urgency is  now!

Actually, they are invoking some sort of "impeachment lite." They're bypassing some of the perfunctory investigative processes (it's obvious what the dirtbag did!) and he could be impeached by Wednesday. What THIS would do is force the Senate's hand. They would have to reconvene for a vote. Then, 2/3 of the Senator's present could vote him out of office. Those still beholden to 45 could just refuse to return, saving face yet allowing the dangerous, deranged lunatic to be removed from office. Keep yer eyes open, it's gonna get interesting!

Bit of a waste of time he has already made a conceding statement of handed over power and only has a matter of days to go.

A second impeachment could include the ruling that he never hold public office again. Money well spent.

Only a matter of days to go is what they said last week.  Look what happened.  He's mentally unstable.

Mitch is going to lose some of his power, as Minority Senate whip. His wife, Secty of Transport, just got embarrassed enough to jump ship. 2 assumptions:  Congress will indict. In the Senate vote, 2 Dems will abstain. So you need 19 GOP senators. Likely? perhaps not, but possible. This is the only opportunity for the GOP will take back their party. Trump's ace card always was the threat that he would withhold his nominations for RINO's. Now that his invincibility has been erased in Georgia, he is weaker than he has even been. With that in mind for the midterms in 2022, who know how GOP Congressmen/women and senators will vote. Strangely enough, all I want to see is at least a 2 party system, not the threat of a future dictator/autocrat/First Family dynasty (none of whom has the skill set to replace Trump) .

As I said Trump has conceded already.

The police were at fault for letting the protesters get violet and the person in charge has resigned.

The news reported on France 24 was that the police chief in charge had resigned.

I stand corrected. my American friend has gone from the US a long time. I checked and there has been a slight and increasing majority of the military against Trumps action, as recently as late 2020 in a poll. (Not that polls mean much) ????

Another path that needs to be taken is for lawsuits to be filed against those media organizations that continue to spout lies that they know are lies.

There was no fraud in the election, but networks like Fox continue to spew the lies.

Sue Fox.

Sue individually the people who knowingly spout the lies, like hannity, carlson and ingraham. Hit them in the pockets. Hard. Bankrupt them.

They have free speech, but that comes with consequences if the speech is false and foments violence.

I'm a military brat.  Lived on bases until I was 18.  Worked in the tech world and for a long time, only sold to government/military organizations.  Most in the military are hard core supporters of the constitution.  They may like Trump, but they won't do anything that violates their oath to the constitution.  Some nutters for sure, but the vast majority, especially those in power, are hard core loyalists to the constitution.

Fox is being sued.  As are many other organizations and individuals for spreading lies about the voting machines.  Not sure what's going to happen, but if you noticed, no more mentions of fraud with voting machines on Faux News!!

Yes, and Dominion filed a $1.3 billion suit against sidney powell, the lunatic who claimed dead hugo chavez altered the election results, among other moonbat lunacies. .

Dominion forced the crazed clown lou dobbs to discredit his own statements about Dominion.

The individual lawsuits are best, because even though a guy like hannity has $100 million net worth, if a court holds up a billion dollar ruling against him, he's bankrupt and destitute.

The time has come. Willfully spouting lies might be free speech, but it comes with consequences. Let him pay.

Well IMO your wrong the police should of dealt with it the same way they dealt with the Black lives matter protests.

Dominion is suing that kraken crank for 1.3 bn dollars. Hope they succeed.

Your wrong.  The police chief tried to get the national guard in.  The only ones who can do that are Trump and Pence.  They blocked it, for obvious reasons.  But the police chief didn't seem to care.  Thus, he resigned in shame.

Trump is responsible for this.  Period.  He could have ordered the building secured after seeing 10s of thousands of nuts.  He didn't, and was actually happy watching it.  As reported by many in the White House.

They are being investigated for "Seditious Conspiracy":

Here's the key part of the statute:

18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy

If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

Since it says 'two persons', thank goodness we have these 2 morons Trump Junior and Giuliani ) . You could probably add Mississippi Senator Hawley - see the photo of him doing his version of Captain America, standing with his clenched fist raised towards the crowd, on his way in to the Senate, prior to the riot. .

Removal from office is all but impossible. I believe that It needs majority votes to do so, at 3 levels of Govt. ; the Cabinet, Senate and Congress.

I saw a female protester being interviewed , she said " We have to back Trump , he is Americas last chance , we have to be saved from the socialists and communists "

Im thinking whoa , this is a throwback from the fifties , does she actually know what communism is.

I cant help but believe there is some kind of genetic inbalance at work here , did the lizard people contaminate the water or the cornbread ?
