I don't know what's creepier...these pics or hundreds of drunk aged expats roaming around looking for bargirls.

They always  seem to have a similar appearance...

Who in their right mind would want to travel half way across the world during a global pandemic anyway..  :coffee1:

People wanting to escape from where they have been cooped up for almost a year.

So no transport into Pattaya ? Not possible to go anywhere unlesd  live there?

Most people have the opportunity to be able to walk outside and enjoy their own environment. People often live very close to beautiful places in their own towns, cities, countryside and so on where they can go for walks and runs. This is not a time for extravagant,  luxury holidays , but rather a time to focus on keeping safe and considering the safety of others around us.

Never looked at Thailand as luxurious or extravagant.  More like affordable and convenient, well it was.  Living here is different as well when you decide on the lifestyle you want to live.  Affordability is up to what the market and your pocketbook will bear.

Not great pictures.  The first one looks kind of atmospheric, but the rest look like holiday snaps.

Those days will return when the virus is under control.walking st will be buzzing again as i remember just like the police van that was always at the front. Many are waiting to get back to thailand from many places

Sadly, many of those people are not coming back. They are dead. Covid has hit the Walking street  people the hardest - Over age 65, obese, smoker, pre-existing diseases of heart, kidney diabetes, lung.

Pattaya will become the convention capital of SE Asia once the redevelopment and clean up is finished.

Sure, it will be back. But when? And how many owners, managers and employees will be bankrupt until then.

Should I care because I do not. Let's be honest- anyone who was collecting  barfine from a  lady was in practice a pimp.  Some of the beer bars were holes- nothing more than filthy places with uncomfortable seats and dirty tables. Having a pillow soiled with years of sweat didn't make it more comfortable to sit.

Many of the bars and clubs had monkey business going on and many customer had a bad outcome. Some of the bars were run by criminal types from Australia, Denmark, UK, Sweden. And the employees? Did not trust any I saw.  I have been to Pattaya for events. When you stay at Hilton or Meridien,  everything is safe, clean proper, but it is nothing special.

Sometimes the outcome is merited.

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

I remember all the rip off's!!!

Taxi etc.

Maybe not luxurious to you, but i can guarantee it would be for  millions of other people.
My main point being is that it's a dangerous time to travel due to the severity of the virus, hence why these travel restrictions are currently in place.

And also by the same groups that invest in these always empty places.  Maybe instead they can rebuild for the better. Just noticed this place at Dolphin NE corner : Wok&Roc.

Doom and gloom whinges! Get over your ancient pessimistic selves. The 2nd wave of covid new cases are going down considerably. The Chinese vaccinations are on the way, the USA one's a bit later.

For all their faults, the Thai Gov has done spectactualy well, GREAT in fact!! 67 deaths out of 69 million population. Is a miracle! UK/USA/Aust and most others are miles away from those kind of numbers. Be grateful, you are living soo cheaply, your safe, you get away with having your slave wives for a pittance and delude yourselves that they really care for you, when I see in their faces everyday how they despise you.

If  your so unhappy go back to the UK and shiver away in the freezing cold and real draconian LOCK DOWNS, they thrive on whinging there!

"They thrive on whinging here".....You're welcome aboard....:clap2:

One could start wondering what's really going on here worldwide..... Do our so-called "leaders" really know what they're doing ? Have real doubts about that.

wishful thinking but the reality isn't so. Covid is THE reality at the moment and it's here and everywhere making people sick, killing people, threatening jobs, killing businesses, loved ones, relationships and destroying world economy. It will take years for the vaccine to prove itself to be safe&effective but that's not even guaranteed. Hell, we don't even have vaccines for the common cold or AIDS yet. And even if "those days" concept makes a come-back 10 years later, it will return very different than how we know it. it doesn't give me pleasure to write this but better accept the truth, so we can all deal with the reality better and more cautiously.

Wouldnt this be the perfect time to demolish the illegal buildings on beach side of walking st.

The quiet Pattaya is a unique tourist attraction. When this special time is over it can take endless years until you can experience it like this again.

Your wrong

Thais love Pattaya. I speak full Thai. Pattaya will be back. Not 100%..But within 2 years unless they rezone..Any disaster is on the horizon with this destroying leader

once Corvid 19 spell is over there is worse to come, there is a pay back time coming, the people that own the world banks want their money back and they will get it

Thought I also saw some posts with Chucky the doll at the Bus station and a few other locations as well on the news this morning when they saw the Doll sitting in the middle of the road.

Alcohol, illegal drugs, assault and prostitution come to a grinding halt.

Some believe its a blessing in disguise.

A Pattaya that begins anew. We'll all see what happens after the emergency decree ends... if it ever ends....

"Special time is over...."    That is going to be a good while and not in 2021 for sure.

I'm more of the opinion the 'good times' have ended for everyone, everywhere forever.

And these photos are depicting the future as it is likely to be.

Right now I am still having "good times". 2020 was a pleasant year, now I am working at 2021.

Not in the "free" western part of the world anyway.
