Thai man credits “Patron Saint of Travel" amulet for saving him from horror smash

Thai media Naew Na claimed that an amulet was the reason a driver survived a smash with a lamppost in Had Yai, southern Thailand yesterday.

The 30-40 year old was on his way to Sadao when he lost control of his Honda Civic and smashed head on into a lamppost near a weighing station.

The media claimed it was a miracle. A rescue foundation treated the victim for a touch of blood under his chin.

There was no one else in the car.

The driver was wearing just one amulet that was a "Phra Sivali".

Wikipedia says that Sivali is like the patron saint of travel - a kind of Thai St Christopher.

Sivali is widely venerated by Theravada Buddhists as an arhat - one who has gained insight into the true nature of existence, just one step off being an enlightened Buddha.

Thung Lung police are investigating the accident.

I think it was the air bag, which has gone off, that saved him,

why did the amulet not stop him from losing control of the

car, now that would have been a miracle????

If he had 2 amulets he would have been able to swerve and avoid the pole.

Probably 50 that day that their purchase had the opposite effect...... ????

See! It does work! Wasn't The seat belt or air bag saved him!????

The amulet must have been going at a fair lick to stove the front of the car like that. Poor old lamppost again.

Stage two thinking, which is inaccessible to Thais.

Some 30 years ago a friend gave me a St Christopher medallion

. I must look it out.

But first you have to purchase an amulet that protects you from 'Skyrocketing Prices'.

Nothing to do with the air-bag then?

Meanwhile hundreds of cars passed the same spot, non were wearing the amulet and didn't crash.
