BANGKOK (NNT) - The Deputy Prime Minister has clarified that investigative committees for gambling dens and illegal border crossings are still being formed and will include anti-money laundering and state corruption investigators, while explaining that 300 million baht allotted to the Thai Media Fund was from excise tax payments rather than the central budget.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam indicated the two investigative bodies are still being prepared but disclosed that once formed they will issue reports every 30 days and directly report to the Prime Minister. While a timeframe has not been set for the bodies, if the COVID-19 situation lifts, relevant agencies will take their place.

The DPM acknowledged public interest in the matter of casinos and illegal migration and promised to use his experience conducting a probe into Vorayuth Yoovidhya activities, on the two issues. The committees are to include anti-money laundering and corruption prevention officials.

On a backlash against 300 million baht being devoted to the Thai Media Fund, which produces constructive media, DPM Wissanu explained that the funding was not from the central budget but from excise taxes, and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission’s own annual expenditure budget. The injection will be used to produce media targeted at children, adults and the elderly or possibly to disseminate accurate information about COVID-19.

What "experience" in probing the Vorayuth Yoovidhya case is he talking about? He doesn't even know the whereabouts of "Boss".

If that is the "experience" on which he's basing the investigations into gambling dens and illegal migration, we can already anticipate that these yet-to-be-formed investigative committees will find exactly... well... nothing.

But that wouldn't be anything new.

Bla, bla, bla, more hot air, all to make it look like they are doing something, and that they care.

How many committees does it take?  DPM Prawit is on 140+.  Of course he's only there for the pies so I can't imagine any of his committees to come up with any action except to claim travel expenses and free lunches.
