Lottery fever grips Isaan! This time it's termite mounds resembling Buddha

Online posts about mysterious goings on in Isaan - Thailand's superstitious north eastern region - inspired Sanook reporters to investigate.

 

In the village of Ban Lamduan in Prasat district of Surin they found a constant stream of people with flowers, joss-sticks, cake and red soda.

 

They were prostrating themselves to termite mounds. 

 

But these were not just any termite mounds. One was the spitting image of a Buddha. 

 

Though some thought it more resembled a "kuman" - a child character with a topknot from Thai culture. 

 

Others even thought it was "Ai Khai" (famous as a revered bringer of riches elsewhere in Thailand).

 

Still more thought it was just like an abbot in the area who died 15 years ago.

 

Nearby was another mound that was the very image of a stupa.

 

The locals are adamant that no one has carved the figures. They are just like that.

 

The mystery continues with plenty of lottery vendors set up in the area to satisfy the demands of those who believe they have divined the next winner.

Yes and downright stupid for believing ants can do that on there own without some kind of manipulation from someone on 2 legs .

I thought 914 was the number three draws ago. Bought 419 at the local lotto shop just in case the numbers were mixed up for that draw. Didn't win though.
