BANGKOK (NNT) - Since the start of the pandemic last year, many fake news reports about COVID-19 have been posted on social media. At the same time, the Ministry of a Digital Economy and Society has been collecting evidence and has finally issued arrest warrants for the fake news posters.

The Minister of a Digital Economy and Society, Puttipong Punnakan posted on his Facebook today comments about COVID-19 fake news posted during the pandemic, which caused misunderstandings among the citizens.

Mr. Puttipong explained that the ministry has always collected evidence of fake news posts and reported them to the Royal Thai Police. Recently, the police issued arrest warrants for 35 fake news posters.

Among members of the public, if anyone has a concern about news on social media, it is recommended they advise the Anti Fake News Center and ask for a fact check, as sharing fake news can also be illegal.

How many will see any punishment, meaning this in itself could be classed as fake news

No comment, oops that was fake news on my part, I always have a comment.  I wouldn't be me If I stood idly by and did not complain about the inequalities I observe.  However, what's one mans truth another one considers fake and a lie.  Only in Thailand can you disagree with the Governments news reports and be done for posting fake news when in reality it was the government that posted fake news.  Of course this post is all fake to begin with. Freedom of view is not allowed apparently, even it was a mistaken view.

Where did the pic' in the original post come from? It is not a virus. Viruses do not look like that.

Fake news is quite easy to spot with the c-19 disaster. Simply look at the research and test it against the narrative. A bit difficult for the closed-minded to know what papers show the truth, but, as has been posted above; following the money gives a good indication.

Is fake news fake news?

Who really knows, are fakes similar to real, I mean look at the replica high end watches and bags, or even the High End art pieces that are fakes hanging in museums as they were scammed as the original has been replaced by the forgery.  Is the printed media a Forgery, or a fake, are they not similar, one will never know.  If it takes me 10 licks to get to the center of a tootsie-pop is that fake news when the commercial says 1-2-3- Crunch.

That looks just like the virus Trump got on with so well in the Spitting Image satirical series on UK TV.

Even if you're not aware it's fake news.

Oops, have I just committed an offence? How do I know this article I'm replying to isn't itself fake?

Reminds me of Orwell's 1984:

"To meet the ideological requirements of English Socialism in Oceania, the ruling English Socialist Party (Ingsoc) created Newspeak, a controlled language of simplified grammar and restricted vocabulary designed to limit the individual's ability to think and articulate "subversive" concepts such as personal identity, self-expression and free will. Such concepts are criminalized as 'thoughtcrime'."

You lost me after Oceania ..

I thought it was a nightclub ..

The new liberal progressive, woke culture summarized perfectly...and why 70 million people voted for Trump.

You mean the right wing screaming karens, flat earth, anti vax, religious extremists, Qanon, Infowars woke Trump puppies?

Yeah, 70 million, that's a problem, it's why America has half a million covid deaths.

Is that why the EU/EEA also has just under Half a million deaths as well.  Time you started to blame someone other than a former disgraced failure.

COVID-19 situation update for the EU/EEA, as of week 4, updated 4 February 2021 (europa.eu)

there are different views about covid, believing either doesn't make people covid deniers or covid fear mongers, they are just opinions

But perhaps the most striking and frightening aspect of the ... flight from reality is the habit of treating facts as though they were mere opinions

Europeans were not prepared to forego their sacred summer holidays in Spain etc. From there they brought the second wave all over the place.

Just like the skiers brought the first wave from Ischgl/Tyrol.

Just like, right know,  skiers are bringing the SA variant from Tyrol to all of Europe.

Just call the Ministry of Truth, they'll put you right.

Be just as careful if your telling the truth, you could by accident commit "lesse majeste", as somebody could take offence at what you say. A truthful statement is no defense.

Citation?

You will get your citations in May, when there will be a lot of hand-wringing why the third wave is so much worse than the second.

Der Standard (Austrian newspaper) reported 2 days ago of 230 cases of the SA variant in Tyrol. Believe me, they are not all farmers living isolated in the mountains.

The Austrian federal government now warns people not to go to Tyrol, reports in all Austrian news outlets. But people in Tyrol this time of the year are mostly ski tourists,  from all over Europe. Tourism was and still is wide open,  just like last February.

So, you were making it all up moving right along...

Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is going to get hit by a third wave. That's been writ large since the Spanish flu pandemic. But don't late that fact of basic coronavirology get in the way of a good old nationalist finger-pointing.

Quite a few countries without a third wave so far. But I am not an expert in "coronavirology" like you seem to be.

And countries like Vietnam, you may say they have a third wave,  but compared to the waves in the West it's more a ripple.

Isn't it nationalistic if you only accept English sources because you cannot read Austrian media?

Update: right now in Die Presse (Austrian Newspaper):

People can only exit Tyrol with a negative covid test.

300 SA variants now in Tyrol, the biggest outbreak of this kind in the EU according to Mr Kurz (Austrian chancellor).
