Rape scene depicted in Thai soap opera sparks outrage on Twitter

Featured Replies

Before any Thai soap is aired it has to go before a board of censors. Possibly the same censors that a few years ago wouldn't approve a particular production because "the acting was too good". Consequently, if a soap doesn't get aired after approval then the production company doesn't get paid by the tv channel and nor do the actors.  This is probably the reason why producers don't want to try something new and will stay safe with what has been tried and tested over the years.
