BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic model as an escape path for the country from the middle income malaise, while promoting domestic investments.

Prior to the weekly Cabinet’s meeting today, the Prime Minister viewed an exhibition of BCG inventions presented by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR).

Inventions presented in the exhibition include a sweetener made from Isomaltulose as a sugar alternative, bio-methanol distilled from discarded items, and a herbal supplement from Triphala fruits.

During the visit, the Prime Minister thanked all sectors for advancing the BCG economic model that could help Thailand transform from a medium income to high income nation, help reduce inequalities, help promote wealth distribution, and help upgrade the grassroots economy.

He mentioned projects which uses agricultural waste to create new products and help reduce the emission of air pollution from farm burn-offs, and has promoted the use of different biological resources in each region to gain the most benefit for local communities.

The Prime Minister mentioned he has ordered the Board of Investment of Thailand to consider adjusting their investment promotion criteria to meet the current economic landscape affected by COVID-19, as well as promoting domestic investments that can help the country rebound from the crisis quickly.

He also invited the public to use products developed and manufactured as part of the BCG model, such as the Palatyne sweetener for persons with diabetes, and the herbal toothpastes and shampoos, saying that he will personally use these products himself.

Another load of twaddle. Next we will be promoting Thailand as the hub of BCG! What Prayuth and his henchmen need to get down to is practical business rescue and development programmes that are actually fit for purpose. This crowd has not actually implemented anything from its list of pipe dreams, like high speed rail etc etc.
