You are right. He did this one time. All his other speeches were inciting his followers to March on the Capitol and fight the steal.

Your cherry picking one speech out of hundreds. Stop. It's getting boring. And posting fake information.

The January 6 speech was also about fighting, being tough, going to the Capitol, stopping the election steal, etc.  He use the word "peacefully" once, the rest of his speech was designed to inflame passions.

If a bank robber passes a note stating "I don't want to kill you, but you better fill this bag with money", the first words don't absolve him of the crime.

  • Yeah, let's just let the guy who incited an insurrection go and blame the people trying to hold him into account. What kind of logic is that?

It's beginning to stink of perjury.  The Tommy Tuberville story about the phone call doesn't align with the security footage time line.

Tuberville says he informed Trump of Pence’s evacuation before rioters reached Senate

No he did not, I saw the vid of Pence being evacuated and the mob was right behind him.

And anyway what is the message here, that the former VP was safe, so it didn't matter who else the mob captured?  Why didn't the brave conservatives like Cruz and Hawley stand their ground like the bold patriots they pretend to be?

President Trump has almost 4 more years to shore up his campaign.

I'm not afraid of Donald Trump running again in four years," Lieu said. "I'm afraid he'll run again and lose because he can do this again."

You can't have a democracy when the information is filtered to fit a narrative.

I hear this and variations of this comment often from the right.  That the news is biased on the left.  Here's how I see it.

Perhaps you're right that a publication like the NY Times picks stories to fit a narrative.  But 99.9% of the time what they write is factual.  So, even if you think the NY Times is omitting things, or focusing on some things more than others, what you'll find is that their FACTS are in fact FACTS, and not ALTERNATE FACTS.  And therein lies the difference.

These last 5 years, since Trump descended (and we should have taken that as a metaphor) the escalator, lies have flown from the right.  From Trump.  From Sarah Huckabee Sanders.  From Kellyanne Conway (who coined the term "alternate facts").  From Sean Spicer (of crowd size fame).  From the administration's megaphone (Fox "News", et al).  And from many more.  That's a far cry from a newspaper filtering what they share with you.  Maybe you don't like their lean, but at least you can accept that what is written is true.

I hope you can see the difference.  There's a chasm between the two of them.  Perhaps the NY Times is sometimes selective in its coverage, but what is written is still completely true.

There are plenty of credible news sources available.  Some lean right, some lean left, some try to be balanced.  You can take your choice.  Granted you will have to read to be informed, which some people seem to object to.

You can't have democracy when a large portion of the population is willfully ignorant.  The people who think right-wing pundits are legitimate news sources and who believe Trump's lies are willfully ignorant.
