Anyone Been To Chiang Kong This Year To See If The Big Catfish "puua Blaack" (please Pardon The Sp) Is Being Caught This Year And Worthy Of A Trip?

Featured Replies

Guess the title about wraps it up. Read a couple weeks ago in the Bkk Post that they were allowing fishing this year for the first time in years. Maybe this is the opportunity to see something unique and vanishing.

At the "Ban Mai" market on the first east-west road north of the Kok River

(near Eko-cha seafood restaurant, across from, I think it is, St Mary's grade-school)

I saw one - almost as big as my 4-year-old "brother"...

cut in half and still breathing

don't know if that's the kind of thing you're looking for

(it wasn't pleasant, but somehow I stared until the breathing stopped)

We live in Chiang Khong and nothing happening the past two years due to the closing of the fishery. And if next year they allow catchment, you could spend three or four plus days here waiting to see one, but still not be lucky enough.

Cheers
