Pfizer says COVID vaccine can be stored in regular freezers at warmer temperatures

Featured Replies

Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine doesn’t deserve the deep freeze.

The pharmaceutical company has submitted data to the Food and Drug Administration backing up its claim that its drug is stable when stored between -13 degrees Fahrenheit and 5ºF, Pfizer announced Friday.

Presently, the labels for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine read that the drug must be kept in ultra-freezing temperatures between -112ºF and -76ºF.

I hope this doesn't mean they've given up on their vaccine proving to be any good. If it is no good then never mind how it gets stored.

You must be confusing this vaccine with another one. Pfizer actually has the highest efficacy numbers of any vaccine. And it has proven itself to be outstandingly effective in Israel.

Good news, but it is still not fridge temperature, and is a very fragile vaccine.

That's about -15 to -11ºC on a normal scale.

That is the vaccine can be stored at temperatures attainable by any decent domestic freezer.
