So, it will be very busy being a long weekend.

Loads of places:

Look on Booking.com / Agoda.com etc.

Price depends on where you want to stay... from Sai Keaw Beach resort (relatively expensive end) to 1000 baht a night fan rooms.

Sai Keaw beach is the busiest with most restaurants etc

Transport - find out the ferry times and time out your arrival with one of those.

Lots of info on the Websites - the difficulty is finding out whats running and whats not given Covid-19 downturn.

Weekends and long weekends are generally busy with lots of ppl from Bangkok.

Weekdays are pretty quiet.

I haven't been for a while, but be sure to check the boat times, I gather they run less frequent than pre covid.  Nothing much in Ban Phe, if you are stuck there until tomorrow's boat.

You are talking precovid. now even on week end it's super quiet.

and before covid there was no quiet day anymore, even week days were full of russian and chinese.

sorry but all your informations are outdated.

I went on a day trip with Malibu Travel from Pattaya. Boat took us direct to their own resort on the island. Happier days back then.

Sorry to hear the travel company has ended. Seems everything with Malibu in title has ended. I loved the Malibu show when it wasn't just ladyboys.

Hopefully can add this question here rather than start new thread.

So today Thursday 20 Jan.

The gf is telling me that ATK test is from today required to enter Koh Samet.

Can anyone confirm this.

Ta.

@mran66 thanks for that update.

We became aware of that recently.

We live in Bangkok and have extended periods on Koh Samet.

We are putting off next trip.

It's not the 330baht..

Just can't be bothered with all that rubbish.

Our Thai friends on Samet are telling up that many living on Samet are testing positive. Omicron ..it's inevitable.

Bit funny to test folk going to Samet. Good chance of becoming positive once on island.

...smart move...I personally try avoid any place requiring the mandatory test like avoiding plague - not because of the the price but the consequences; likelyhood of getting tested positive is not low these days. Was also considering to go to Samet for few days, but will need to wait.

We do extended stays on Samet and of course the gf is in almost daily contact.

Koh Samet currently is extremely quiet.

Should almost close it as they did 2020.

Look out for the oil slick

Isn't that somewhat further South?

Oh I see, it is another oil spill.

Nothing to see here, move along folks as it's all cleaned up & the waters are as pristine as ever ????

I remember being down in a Ban Phe a year or so after the last publically admitted spill and my little ones where making sand castles as the beach looked spotless but once they dug down a few inches it was soaked with crude.

We couldn't get the stains out the the swimming togs.
