SURAT THANI, March 17 (TNA) - Bryde's whales were seen feeding off Ang Thong islands in Surat Thani province.

Following tourists' report on sighting the whales between Hanuman and Thai Phlao islands, a team of Natawat Nuisriram, chief of the Ang Thong National Marine Park, went offshore to take their pictures and collect their information.

The team first recognized two Bryde's whales earlier identified as Wandee and its baby Chao Wanyood. It then saw two other Bryde's whales also feeding in the boundary of the Ang Thong National Marine Park.

They know them all very well. If you go out on the boats from Samut Sakhon, they have really good guides who can pass on a lot of knowledge and show how they identify them etc.. Amazing really, that you can often see the whales with Bangkok's taller buildings visible on the horizon. You're pretty much guaranteed that they'll find at least a couple of whales on the trip and I think they have a policy that if no whales are spotted, they take you out again for free. We've been out a couple of times and seen whales on both trips.
