According to Mr Google it could be a Golden Brown jumping Spider.

Thanks for that! I Googled but found nothing similar.

Not dangerous to humans if that is what you are worried about.  Unless perhaps you have an allergic reaction to the venom.

The Latin name is Argiope sp. The common name is X spider because it has a tendency to sit in its web like an x.

Here’s a link to a website that features a picture of an Argiope sp that looks pretty much identical in terms of coloring. The picture was taken in Chiang Mai:

Thanks for that!

A dead...Golden Harvester spider, killing spiders is unlucky.....

regards Worgeordie

Don't kill anything apart from cats and Jakep and Macums, I thought it was a fly on my neck, couldn't see it, brushed it off and that was what landed.

I know a song about a spider:

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly;

I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her!

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly;
I don't know why she swallowed a fly - Perhaps she'll die!

etc etc etc

it's a shame spiders have such a bad reputation in light of all the benefit they offer to mankind.

Well, the fear of spiders, snakes, scorpions and so on are more or less hardwired into our subconsciousness because some of them can kill you. So from your subconscious point of view it’s better safe than sorry. I get that, but me personally I love them all, venomous or not. I used to keep snakes and tarantulas. Spiders are quite fascinating in terms of the way they move, behave and eat and the colors on some of those are just mind blowing!

What I absolutely don’t get is why so many people feel the need to kill spiders they find in their houses, especially the ones that aren’t dangerous to humans. A lot of those will catch mosquitos and other bugs flying around your house. Most of them can also very easily be caught and transported out of the house, so there’s absolutely no need to kill them! In countries like Thailand where there are venomous snakes there’s always someone that can be called that will remove venomous snakes for example from your house if need be and that’s a lot safer for you than trying to remove or kill it yourself! One bit of a king cobra, monocled cobra, Russell’s viper orca Kraft can kill you in as little as 30 minutes! The good news is, though, these snakes want nothing to do with us! They’d rather get away! So, people should just use common sense and they’ll be fine!
