No chance with this I'm afraid. Biden needs to get a grip on a number of other issues eg the chaos on the southern border.

What chaos. They are being arrested so its working.

But unlike trump, he has people in charge that are qualified for their positions to do the job.

Im sure he could play golf but he prefers to actually work.

  • You're very funny. Biden doesn't give a rat's ash about the country OR it's people. He's more interested in getting votes from the dredges of the world. Americans are always LAST on the democrat agend

In America the only thing that is easier to buy than a gun is a politician.

  • Ah Joe, Presidents before you have peed into the wind on this subject, you'll be doing the same! Your country is gun obsessed!

Yes, there a some refugees at the southern border so let's all ignore the daily wholesale slaughter of US citizens by US citizens!????

I just finished watching Fox for the gun positions from several commentators. So help me out here. Why does banning assault weapons equate to it just being the beginning of another gun take away?

AR-15 not really an assault weapon.  It cannot fire more than a few rounds at a time.  Real assault weapons can.  I prefer revolvers, personally.

Some refugees?  How about thousands?  How about tens of thousands?  BTW we call them illegal aliens once they cross the border.

Yes, I did read that in the comments section. One poster stated this shooter took carefully aim so it was more like his auto feature was not at all automatic.  I have friends and family who care about their rights of gun ownership I do want to still know why AR's which once were banned and then expired. One other rebuttal notated how most ask recent mass shootings were done with an AR.

And the connection to the staggering number of deaths by gun in the US is??

I really don't understand how you 2nd Amnd't. types dare live anywhere else than in the reddest parts of the US. For those of you who live in Thailand how the heck are you able to leave the house without packing? Must be scary as frack - especially in a country where the powers that be really do come and take away your freedoms on a regular basis!

"U.S. President Joe Biden on Tuesday called for a ban on assault weapons and tighter gun control measures "

He's President, he could just do it by executive order couldn't he?

For some reason (I really don't understand these things) a thread on the Colorado shootings came up on my facebook feed. Prominent amongst the comments were a significant number of suggestions that everyone should have been armed! Idiocy taken to a new level!

What is it about the American obsession with guns. and killing people?

Do you all have such small willies that you need to cart a gun around with you to prove that you are a man?

Just stop killing your people. To do that you need to take the guns out of society. After all, there is absolutely no need for a private individual in a civilised society to own a semi automatic military rifle, other than as a phallic replacement! You like target shooting? Ok, a classic bolt action rifle will do fine. You like hunting? OK, again a bolt action rifle will do the job. You are scared of intruders into your home - well I suppose a pistol - but I remember talking to an American a couple of years ago who bemoaned the fact that burglars had pinched both his pistols! He was an interesting albeit confused individual - listening to his almost constant tales of the Vietnam war I was left with two impressions, that the US manpower shortage in the latter part of the war was such that they were enlisting and deploying 14 year olds, and that  the Ho Chi Minh Trail (which he claimed to have been interdicting) ran through Chiang Rai! But that is another (rather amusing ) story.

To return to gun control, the UK has done it, Australia has done it, New Zealand has done it. It can be done, it works, it requires determination, and a government (or more specifically in the case of the US) a legislative system which is prepared to follow the  wishes of the people, rather than the barking and howling of a gun lobby. That of course is the problem.

Most of the gun related deaths are suicides, sadly.

Serbia and Switzerland have higher gun ownership per capita than the USA...

Please provide your source.   JHere's what I find:

Estimate of civilian firearms per 100 persons:

US:   120.5

Serbia: 39.1

Switzerland: 27.6

(According to this source, the number in the US is at least double the rate of every other country except the Falkland Islands where the number is 62.1)

I wonder where these statistics come from as both the NIH and the CDC are prohibited from conducting research on gun violence.  In fact no federal funds are allowed to be used anywhere to research the cause/effects of gun violence in the US.

If that isn't a good measure of how effed up the situation is in the US I'm not sure what is.

Again, where is the connection to the refugees at the border?

WRONG!
usa(1) has  an Estimate of civilian firearms per 100 persons of 120.5, Serbia (6) of 39.1 and Switzerland (19) of 27.6 (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_number_of_civilian_guns_per_capita_by_country)

There is NO country in the world where people have more guns than usa (1.2 gun per person!!!). And then you are wondering why there are so many (mass)(school)shootings?!? usa has nobody else to blame than themselves and their everlasting policy of fear; obviously they do NOT care as they are doing NOTHING.

Not aliens.

They're humans.

Undocumented non-citizens.

Probably, but doing it that way can be reversed by order from the next pres to easily. Better to have it passed thru congress and senate.

That is just the way in modern progressive America. People have finally leaned to never apologize to them and never give them an inch. Just like when they said it's only Alex Jones we need to cancel, promise, then fast forward a decade and Aunt Jemima and DrSuess got cancelled too. That is why we will not let team Biden start taking away any guns.

So you are happy nutters can have guns?

Yeah some nut like this seems a likely candidate for obtaining a weapon legally so stricter laws should fix everything ????

Its all the usual bluster & sound bites...Like it or not guns in the US is like air...everywhere

So no amount of new regs/laws etc will change that fact....

Instead get tough on laws dealing with folks that use a firearm in a felony. Death sentence period!

In a case such as this when a shooter is caught red handed immediate death sentence no trial...no waiting on death row...tomorrow at 8am you will hang

Not to worry, once the assault rifle sales ban does nothing they'll move to confiscation of assault rifles, and when that does not work they'll move to all guns.

The end game of the left has always been is to confiscate all guns, this is just a step in that direction. If the left really cared about saving lives they would do things like enforcing existing laws and implementing harsher punishments for people posseting guns illegally, but this would take some effort. Instead, they want to focus on a tiny percentage the deaths, while making big headlines by doing virtually nothing. Then when it's shown they've done nothing, they'll say they need to do more. It's like everything else the left does.

That's the tried and true scare tactic that the NRA has employed forever.  Any law, and they mean ANY law enacted relative to guns will lead to the confiscation of all guns.  "Give an inch, the gov will take a mile."  And to their credit, this tactic has worked.  I don't expect any meaningful gun laws to be passed in my lifetime.  Not while Republicans still hold significant power at the federal and/or state level.  Which of course, means more dead people.

Do you or do you not support making it generally illegal for private individuals to own firearms?

If not, what guns should private individuals be allowed to own?

Yes, rich, greedy property owners like you love illegal immigrants. It keeps the demand up for your properties and provides you with cheap labor to service them. You do not suffer at all from the policies support that drive down the wages of the working poor or the negative impact large numbers of illegals have on schools, hospitals and social services cost.

You got yours, that's all that matter yes?
