Hello Everybody,

wife and me ( both Farang ) have been using NON O-M for the past 5 years, usually we go back to Europe after 8 month. We permanently rent a bungalow within a small local resort in the sticks up country. Makes sense for us, because the Thai owner looks after our belongings while we are not around. Now, we plan to return to LOS on NON O single ( both of us ), later on using the 800.000 bank method for an extension of stay, based on retirement, wife being dependent. I do understand, that I have to transfer  800.000 into my thai bank account 3 month before application, to be send via SWIFT, not WISE.

Still I do have 2 questions:

1. Is it a must to get our european marriage cert notarized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in BKK, after having it translated and legalised at the  Thai embassy in Europe?

2. Should we expect problems with the local I.O., regarding the fact that we stay at this Resort Bungalow?

Thank You for advice

The 800k baht only has to be in the bank for 2 months on the day your apply (it was changed 2 years ago).

1. You probably will need to have your marriage certificate authenticated by the issuing authority in your home country before it is done at the Thai embassy.

2. Not if you can show a rental agreement for the bungalow valid for a few months with copies of the owners house book and ID card attached.

You need the deposit in a Thai bank two month before application for extension of stay, and there is no demand that the 800k baht deposit shall be transferred from abroad. With Wise you can select the foreign transfer FTT-code in the roll-down menu.

That is good news, using SWIFT instead of WISE would have made us to loose a lot of money. I got confused with the 65k per month method. Thank You very much indeed.

You have it authenticated by your relevant government office then legalized by the Thai Embassy in your home Country. On arrival in Thailand you have it translated into Thai, then have both documents legalised by the Consular section of the MFA.

There is a translation office within the same building as the MFA Consular section.

You can have the legalised documents posted via EMS to your Thai address for 100 baht, which saves hanging around in Bangkok.

Provided the resort owner files a TM30 at the local Immigration office you shouldn't have any problems obtaining an extension.

I think you meant, in the 'reason' for transfer section, select 'Funds for long term stay in Thailand'.

You cannot select 'FTT' code, which is purely dependant on the Thai bank.
