Using European insurance for covid requirement

Featured Replies

Noted the insurance requirements are 400k general medical cover and 100k covid cover.  The 400k can be bypassed with an Elite visa.  But can my existing BUPA $2000000 cover be accepted instead of having to buy the 100k covid cover?  And how could I et confirmation of this before purchasing the Elite?

Where will you be applying for the Thai Elite visa?

If it is issued here you will not need a year of covid 19 insurance. For example if you entered visa exempt you would only need 45 days of coverage.

In order to use your BUPA insurance you would need proof it covers treatment for covid 19 from the day you enter the country.

Tx for the help.  Applying in USA (Irish passport).  Am hoping you are correct about accepting Bupa - yes, ongoing annual coverage.

To save some time and long term covid 19 insurance I suggest you enter visa exempt and then have the Thai Elite PE visa done at immigration here. With the 45 day entry and a 30 day extension you have a total stay of 75 days to get it done.

Contact Thai Elite using the contact info on their official website. https://www.thailandelite.com/#/

Certainly worth considering - I have a few months before leaving, so who knows what will change.  Vaccine passports?
