update: CM DTAC did not give correct information re 2g service terminated.

take-away:  told your mobile must be replaced because it is 2g: put a few baht in it, and re-test.

 

I put 100 baht credit in the phone., the phone is usable for all purposes,  and the prior balance is available.

 

If I were more paranoid, I could interpret the response  ...  being escorted over to nearby phone-seller kiosks where I could buy a new 3/4g phone ... as a scam.

 

hypothesis:  the phone' is not 2g: if so, does that make the rep's certainty it was 2g and had to be replaced ... suspicious.
