snoop1130
BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Prime Minister has expressed concern over the COVID-19 situation, in particular its spread via entertainment venues, and ordered strict measures to be imposed on bars, pubs and karaoke lounges, including 14 day closures if an infection is discovered. Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson, Anucha Burapachaisri, said the PM has reiterated that strict measures are needed against COVID-19 at entertainment venues, explaining that, if an infection is found at any venue, it must be closed for two weeks and that, if multiple infections are found in the area, all of its venues must closed for the same period. If infections are found on a provincial scale, the local communicable disease committee is empowered to order a two-week shutdown of all relevant businesses. The premier has also asked that checks on venues be performed more frequently. Eateries have been allowed to continue to operate normally, but are asked to observe stringent measures. They will also be subject to closures if an infection is linked to their premises. Provincial governors have been given the authority to ask their local communicable disease body to order closures of restaurants, markets, food production facilities, entertainment venues and other institutes, if an urgent case is uncovered. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-04-08 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

ThailandRyan
I think his underwear has gotten all bunched up with a few of the hospitals running out of Covid 19 test kits and his ministerial staff now being infected. Popular Post Petey11
So a venue has a case of covid, close it down and people just go to next venue. The owners have no way of knowing who is infected if they have no symptoms and once on the premises to eat/drink they have to remove their face covering. You can clean down tables, floors etc all you like, but pretty sure they've found that 80% plus of infections are picked up by airborne transmission. Back door way of closing venues down and the government saying "It's not our fault you had an infection, it's your lack of hygiene protocols." Saving face at the forefront again I think.

TKDfella
Right in front of Thai New Year? I guess many will be travelling, probably from this evening, and that won't help the situation. During the last couple of days I've heard open music venues practising and getting ready so they must be expecting spectators.

Here, no restrictions on travel for Songkran ???? The road kill and debilitating injuries during this period will far exceed the covid-19 death rate, but will anything other than mouthing-off about it be put in place to reduce the slaughter - NO.

jvs
Imo it is mainly the entitled vip section of the people spreading this at the moment. They travel ant where for a good party and since there is only one rule(for the poor people)there are no rules for the rich and famous. The poor people tend to stay at home and try to make enough money to feed and send their children to school. Next lock down? The poor will suffer, the rest could not care less. 1

edogthong
I don't get it, this is confusing. So the earlier news that 41 provinces have to shut all their entertainment venues down for 14 days is no longer valid?
Excel
Well I would expect that those government ministers will take heed of their leaders instruction regarding "strict measures" and tell all of their respective mia nois that they will receive a good spanking if they go to entertainment areas without them and/or without suitable protection ???????????? natway09
Would be better to leave my little regular bar open & stop ten of millions of people travelling home for Songkran so ensuring the cat gets well & truly out of the bag. That way at least you isolate to a large degree Stop all travel outside of your home province NOW until at least the end of the month. Stop trying to be popular Sir, & make the hard decisions

It seems like there is a concerted effort to kill all businesses that are viewed by elitists as being places where commoners have fun. We're told with a straight face that an 'entertainment venue' is more dangerous that a packed Makro or other packed hypermarts. We're told with a straight face that bars and pubs are more dangerous than coffee shops and restaurants. We're told with a straight face that massage shops are more dangerous than barbers and beauty shops. It's absurd logic. Using the exact same logic, then if an infection is found in a Marko or hypermart, they should be closed for 14 days. If an infection is found in a coffee shop or restaurant, they should be closed for 14 days. If an infection is found in a barber shop or beauty shop, they should be closed for 14 days. But that doesn't happen, so it's not about stopping the spread of Covid. It something else. What is it. It's about pure Control. This is about putting a knee on the neck of a public that would like to have some fun, and then reveling in having the power to control the actions of the average plebs and commoners. If it was about 'controlling Covid' then they would be closing any and all "venues" be they bars or coffee shops, be they a live outdoor concert or indoor shopping in a ram-jam-full Makro, be it a massage shop or a beauty salon. But that's not what they are doing - they are being highly, highly selective. Places of fun. Place where people can relax and get away from the world for a little while. This is about controlling the common folk in the name of Morality using a pandemic as the excuse. And we are being told by world leaders that pandemics will be with us from here on out. From 2020 until forever - cyclical pandemics. Forever pandemics means forever control. "Just get a vaccine. We'll let you out the locked gate on a leash for a short walkies before we drag you back again and lock you up in your hovel or simply restrict where you can go." That's a very dark, stark, grim looking dystopian future imho.

Brazil may be a good choice for you, President thinks the virus is just a cold, hardly any control measures or vaccines there, just make sure your healthy though because the health system has already collapsed with sick and dying patients which have a strange disease affecting the lungs. Run out of ventilators already, oxygen supplies dry out in a couple of days. Sweden didn't mandate any WHO or CDC restrictions and look! It's not Brazil. Thailand doesn't have the on-going Machiavellian lockdown mandates like the UK, Australia, or New Zealand, and look! It's not Brazil. It's going to be a long time before epidemiologists can analyses the data to come up with a plausible reason for why there are pockets of Covid where there are extreme levels of restriction and enforcement, and why in some locales there are fewer cases and fewer deaths where enforcement is more lax. It's way counter-intuitive. My point was the government is locking down entertainment venues when other venues (hypermarts, restaurants, coffee shops, etc) are as crowded as the venues they have targeted. So if "Controlling The Spread Of Covid" is their actual purpose, they should be closing any and all venues where someone comes down with the virus - and for the exact same reasons. That has nothing to do with Brazil's Covid statistics. And I'm done on this topic. Edited April 9, 2021 by connda
