Thai media Naew Na reported on a Facebook post from leading specialist Dr Theeravat Hemachudha who had advice about what home quarantine actually means.

Firstly it means just what it says on the tin - stay home and no parties.

Stay away from other family member - stay two meters apart.

Wear a mask and don't share plates, glasses or utensils with others in the household.

If you're well off assign a toilet to yourself only.

If not, be the last one to use it after others then clean surfaces with disinfectant paying close attention to bath, toilet, sink taps and door knobs.

If you are living alone keep a phone by your side.

If going to hospital with symptoms don't use public transport. Tell a taxi driver about yourself. Clean your car inside.

Remember above all - home quarantine is 14 days.

By following these guidelines the doctor said that this year's outbreak need not be any worse than last year.

Is he saying that Thailand will be allowing those infected to self quarantine at home if positive for Covid, am I reading a fake news story here.

He must be directing this to just the Hi-So community.

So nothing of value in this for you then.I thought all good points to consider.

Wouldn’t it be better to use it first after everything is cleaned?

Don't get me wrong it is all of value, but until this government will allow it it is all conjecture.  My view unfortunately is clouded from past experiences of people I know who returned here from the US, who tested positive with covid and were only asymptomatic, never getting truly sick, but still were hospitalized while already staying in a quarantine ASQ.  Insurance paid the bill but they lost out on what had been paid to the ASQ as it was not refunded.  Just my view as I said.

According to pravit ratchapruk, journalist from khaosod english, private hospitals in bangkok are running out of tests and beds.
that't why the new way will be at home, and not the governmental facilities.

in europe, and probably everywhere else, quarantine was always at home. Only those unable to separate from the rest of negative family were ordered to assigned hotels.

in thailand it's much harder to quarantine home, because overcrowding and extended families living together, but also lack of self-discipline. There was an incident that over 120 thai passengers from repatriation flight from the usa run away from bkk airport, despiye being ordered quarantine.

there suppose to be field hospitals for those with light symptoms, but ao far there are not any in bangkok. There are in samut sakhon , prakan, ratchaburi and nakhom phatom, still only 1100 beds and still partially occupied.

to health professionals this outbrake was very unexpected

Your the one who is positive  therefore you go last

1 Nowhere the article does it refer to this advice being exclusively for people being infected, but if you are infected then you should clean after every use no matter the order of use. Waiting for everyone to go before you do is nonsense.

2: I had to quarantine after someone I had contact with (we were in same room for 10 minutes and socially distanced but no masks) who had a contact with someone who had C-19, so it is not only infected people who quarantine.

Most Thai houses I have been to have 2 toilets. (if its a two floor building). Believe the house I am in now has 4 toilets.

1 downstairs and 1 for each bedroom. But id say 2 is more standard for those living in a house in a gated community. If in a condo.. not so much luck.

I rent a 25 m2 super condo with 4 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms etc.

I think I could sub-rent a few rooms.

I think people living in the provinces, who shop at outdoor markets and work outdoors will be ok. The problem with this new variant is the huge number of viral particles in peoples breath, so talking to people close up in enclosed spaces is a major problem, and only N95 masks will be good enough.

Bangkok obviously will be the worst, but hypermarkets and shopping malls all over the country will be hotspots, though it's easy enough to stay safe by following sensible precautions.

Schools and civil service offices will also spread the virus quickly

On a personal level I would always want to use the facilities before anyone else after they are cleaned.

At home give them a quick spray (ho ho ho-with a disinfectant spray) and a wipe down during the day.

Not quite a “germaphobe, clean freak” yet, but could well be on that path.

Too many years living as a singleton one suspects.
