Khanit Saengsuphan of an Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) steering committee spoke to Manager after meeting with DPM and energy minister Supattanapong Punmeechaow.

 

On the table was the latest news about developing Pattaya as a major tourism and business hub on the Eastern Seaboard.

 

The plans that will turn Pattaya into an international resort worthy of the name called "Neo Pattaya".

 

It will be a smart tourism city with plenty of 5G tech, and business capabilities.

 

Top items for discussion were the three pronged attack to drag Pattaya screaming and kicking into the 21st century. 

 

This is transforming the Old Town, improving transport and sorting the drainage. 

 

In an interesting new titibit Manager also reported that in future the resort would enjoy "immersive entertainment" though this was not adequately explained.

 

Also of note is that Sony Pictures Entertainment plan to build a first of its kind in the world theme park and water park (presumably in the Pattaya area) with many attractions under the umbrella of Columbia Pictures.

 

There will be Ghostbusters, Jumaji, Men in Black, and Hoyel Transylvania features. 

 

Along with the 5G "clean energy" angle will be something called the BCG Model. 

 

This - according to Thaivisa's research - means Bio Economy, Circular Economy and Green Economy. 

 

It is an economic development model for the country.

Sheesh, man , we're nearly 25% through it already. What have they been doing for the past 21 years, apart from thumb twiddling and cheque collecting ?

What's considered "the Old Town" as I don't think I have heard that expression applied to Pattaya before?

How many more billions do they want for "sorting the drainage"..............????

Three out the four mentioned are from the last century. Very 5G....

Perhaps they should "immerse" themselves in getting the Thai population vaccinated before they start to discuss "Neo Pattaya."

A few more apparently, it was under water again yesterday. 

They 'finished' the drainage project on the railway road & opened two lanes near Kao Talo for the first time in about three years.  It was impassible during yesterday's assault on the sand.
