Booked on-line ca. 10 days ago for an early afternoon appointment. To my surprise, all but one of the slots (15 min each) were available. Apart from  a confirmation on screen, you get a separate e-mail. On arrival at CW, best to go to the information desk and ask for a TM.7 form (even if you already have one) in order to get all the supplementary forms (confirming overstay rules, address, etc.). Number seems to increase every year, now four or five sheets, fill-in and sign.  Very busy in front of the L-counters with quite a few people standing (every 2nd seat is roped off). At the resumption of service at 1.00 pm, que counter stood at only 51. Arrived at desk L1-32 which is dedicated to on-line appointees, but nobody in sight. Somebody explained that some IO's had gone to a meeting and that it would take 'a long time, big backlog' (she suggested booking in the morning as this meeting thing seems to be quite common). A senior IO (as judged from the fact that the 'regular counter IOs' came to see her all the time for advice) grabbed my papers and said she would check them herself. Maybe she felt sorry for me - or she liked my necktie. Shen the gave the papers to a regular IO at a counter, said checked already.  IO just stamped the sheets that require your signature and took a pic (and 1,900 B). Took maybe 3 min. She did not type anything in a computer as in previous years. Asked to wait outside, got my passport and bankbook after about 15 min.

Handed in:

- TM.7 with one pic on the back, add your phone number

- Bank letter (bank also gave me a separate statement over the previous 3 months)

- Passport plus copy

- Bankbook plus copy

- Copy of last 90-day report

- Hand-drawn map of residence

All the shops, restaurants are open but virtually no seating.
