One More Beautiful Story...

May 16th was a very special day for several students of the Maechan Hill Tribes School.

On the occasion of a cocktail party at the residence of the Belgian ambassador in Thailand, 9 Hill Tribes violinists, trained by Belgian violinist Geertje Podevyn made the trip to Bangkok.

The reason of the party was to unveil the painting of Chao Phya Abhai Raja Gustave Rolin-Jaequemyns, General Advisor of King Rama V, but the students were there to play violin together with the Chiangrai Youth Orchestra of Ajarn Paramet during the whole evening.

The party was attended by some of the most distinguished guests of the Bangkok society, including Privy Councilor M.R. Thep Devakula, several other ambassadors and diplomats, artists, Rotarians, musicians and orchestra conductors, as well as several corporate chiefs.

The quality of the music played by the Chiangrai Youth Orchestra was excellent, and everybody can imagine how proud the students - and their conductor - have been of their performance, when seing their picture in the Sunday edition of The Nation.

But the whole trip did not end at the residence of the ambassador. The next day everyone went to the beach, in Cha Am.

Knowing that the hill tribes students never saw the sea before, it is easy to understand their excitement when they arrived...
