Thais have been warned by the tech police not to believe claims of high returns and quick return of investments in relation to a power bank fraud online.

Spokesman Lt-Col Krissada Pattanacharoen said that people had been promised high interest rates and easy withdrawal of their money.

Then the website went down and those behind it disappeared with all the cash.

Krissada said there were many victims who were now in even more pain added to that caused by the pandemic.

The people behind the site face jail for five years and fines of 100,000 baht when caught, reported INN, as investigations continue.

Steal millions from suckers and the only worry is  threat of 100,000 fine . Sums up Thailand

Always some looking for a quick buck and believing the sales pitch. Like the ROI's promised on condos you buy and rent out.

So they could start a new sure fire business. They have too much money in their account so you send them your bank details so they can store some of it in yours, and they will pay you for your trouble. As soon as they get back from Nigeria.......

Thais have been warned.  Yes.  The mistake a lot of scammers in Thailand make is to scam Thais, i.e. the Nigerian romance scammers.  If they are caught they will have the book thrown at.  However, boiler room scams, fake financial advisors and other schemes that target exclusively foreign victims are positively encouraged and the owners can be safe and get rich in Thailand, as long as they maintain their payment schedules with the BiB.

But trust their loan schemes.

A common sense warning to all who invest. If the promised return is stupid, beware. Do your research and diligence and use reason.

Who are these people? What is their track record? Who do you know personally, who have invested with them?

Be very careful of high interest investments, RTP scams and extortion are fine - In other words save your money for us

So in essence Som Nam Na, is that correct, or is it caveat emptor?

Presumably this warning does not apply to non-Thai
