Brazilian health regulator Anvisa recommended the immediate suspension of the use of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine in pregnant women, according to a statement late on Monday.

The vaccine is produced locally.

Another blow to this vaccine... Let's see how Thailand will be able to manage "perception" next month, when millions of doses will be locally produced...

You guys have an agenda against AZ.  Not sure why.  But it doesn't help.  As for blood clots, happens all the time.  And it's very likely these were just a coincidence.  In the end, way more lives are saved by this jab than lost.  Impossible to compare.  Though some try.

  • DVT occurs in about 200,000 Canadians every year.
  • PE is the leading cause of maternal death associated with childbirth. A woman's risk of developing Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) is six times greater when she is pregnant
  • Pulmonary embolism causes more deaths annually in North America than breast cancer, AIDS and highway fatalities.
  • Fatal PE may be the most common preventable cause of hospital death in North America

From the first article:

"Based on the much higher risks of COVID-19 infection recently observed in Ontario, including hospitalization, serious illness and death, we maintain that those who received their first dose with the AstraZeneca vaccine did absolutely the right thing to prevent illness, and to protect their families, loved ones and communities," Williams said in the statement.

Again you rely on words  rather than actions.

It doesn't matter how they try to explain, or save their face and their <deleted>.

What matters is the decision they took : "Ontario will no longer give AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine as 1st dose due to blood clot risk"

Why people try to "spin" or "downplay" such decision ?

You might disagree with such decision, of course, but it's pointless to play with words.

Why do people try to "spin" or "downplay" such issues?  It doesn't help anyone.  Your stance against AZ is well known.  All vaccines have side effects.  And in the end, these jabs save lives.  As stated in that article, by medical professionals.

They are taking care of pregnant women. This is very good. There are still a lot of alternative vaccines for them. For example, Sinovac vaccine from the world leader in fighting COVID. Or they can use Sputnik V which is also a good alternative solution for pregnant women.
