While for outsiders Anwar Salaeh is a rebel MP, most of his fellow Democrats consider him a black sheep for his role as an opponent of both his party and the government it supports.

The 50-year-old politician from Pattani has been a headache for Democrat leader Jurin Laksanawisit ever since the party joined the military-backed Prayut Chan-o-cha government after the 2019 election. Not only does Anwar criticize the government while urging his party to quit the coalition and to restructure, he has also voted against the Democrat Party line on important occasions.

Last week, the vocal critic of the party asked its executives and members nationwide to withdraw from the government coalition. His move came after the Constitutional Court ruled Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Thammanat Prompow could stay in office and continue as an MP despite the four years he spent in an Australian jail following his 1994 conviction for smuggling heroin.

Same with corrupt political parties everywhere - no dissension is allowed so that the Party can pretend to stand for things it doesn't care about (democracy, human rights) while maintaining the position it does (having power).

They all stand for the same thing..., Status, money, power.

A party that deserves to be smashed ! To think that this miserable failed gov under a general would never be in governemnt if it wasn't for these people. Misnamed party 'Democrat'?

If there ever is another fair election in Thailand the Democrats should be completely wiped out. I can't imagine they have many supporters after they sold out to the military.

I see a fit up coming his way or even some extra holes but keep on pecking until covid is gone then the bubbling undercurrent will explode and bring them all down anyway ????

but from the beginning of this party they were antidemocratic.

They have ruled thailand through most of the time since the ww2.

That not only include grand corruption, injustice, but mass murder on so many occasions.
