Just come back from the vet!

Yesterday, Jeab found a chick under a tree in the garden. Brought it in, found the cage from saving two chicks two years ago, dashed down to the pet shop to buy special bird food powder B75.

During the day, plenty of caring and attempting to help it drink and eat from special syringes. Partially successful but seemed the chick was responding, trying to flap its wings and able to perch on its special bed of comfort.

Overnight, the cage was left unattended and this morning all seemed to be well. Jeab put the chick on the ground in the garden and very soon, its parents were coming to visit the chick but from my observation appearing to be somewhat futile. The chick was able to walk around a little but in a few moments Jeab came running and sobbing with the chick in her hand. It seems like another bird, I think a Minah, had pecked a hole in the chicks breast and it was struggling and unable to move and breathing what seemed its last breaths.

I didn't want to Jeab to see the chick die so I suggested we go to the vet and see if they can do anything and if not they know what to do with the body.

Immediately, three vets surround the chick as if in a life-saving scenario in ICU. They decided to put one stitch in the wound and Jeab came out to tell me the chick was in the oven!! But

"incubator" seemed a better word for it to me so I established this to be the case. That is another B500

We will know later today if this tiny little thing will survive to tell its mother all about it.

Good effort, good luck....

Hope it goes well for the chick...

We do well with rescuing kittens - not good with other critters, but still have the souvenir obligatory cages....

500B for a chick with a happy ending = not bad ????

What sort of chick is it, chicken, pigeon, eagle, rok, pterodactyl....................?

Our little Chick died about one hour ago. Jeab and I are very upset and would appreciate no more innuendo on the happy ending theme.

A moment to reflect on the response by a Thai vet:

They will take the dead bird to the temple tomorrow. And want to return the B500 to us. This is a gesture that means something to us.

Yes, I know, some fuss over little bird that would have died anyway. But when one is on site in the situation it is a real event that evokes some emotions.

A story of less than 24 hours - something lives - something dies.

Good for you.

It might be a sad ending, but it had a bright side: you and your wife showing compassion.

Thank you for the caring & update....Sometimes, as much as we really want to change the order of things, it's just beyond reach....You did everything you could....
