I hope someone can help with this question.

I'm in Bangkok on a 60 days Tourist Visa. I already made the 30 days extension, which will run out in the beginning of June.

But I want to stay in Thailand over the summer.

Normally I could just go to Laos, come back, and start over with another 60 days. But beacuse of Covid that doesn't seem possible now.

Do I have any chance of getting an extension / visa, that will allow me to stay here.

(I'm not working here. And don't have business or family here.)

You can apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension at immigration.

The order for them ends on the 29th of this month but it will likely be extended again.

I suggest you apply a couple of weeks before your current extension ends.

Thank you for your fast reply.

I can see on the application form, that they are asking for a reason to stay.

Can I just choose "I am not permitted to enter the destination country or the pandemic situation of Covid-19 is still ongoing" ?

Or would they ask for any proof of this ?

My worries are, that I COULD actually just back go to my home country.

Would the Thai authorities ask about this, or is this just a formality?

(I understand that there are probably a lot of "newbies" like me, asking these kind of questions here on the forum. And I really appreciate any help that I can get.)

It's more simple than your thinking.

You sign an affidavit and tick box for reason, which basically amounts to "covid situation"

Go to imm soon. This is form that they will ask you to sign

Thank you very much.

I can see that the order for the Covid extentions end on May 29th.
I have read that the 60 days extension starts counting from the day I go to the office, not from the day where my current Visa expires

So for not "loosing" too many days, I thought of waiting until May 27th.
Does that seem reasonable?

There  have been mixed reports about this. Seems one immigration office dates it the way you suggest and others date from end of current extension. State you immigration office and someone can give you first hand experience.

I'm sure that the 'covid extensions' will continue to be available past end of May. The announcement prob day or too prior to 29th.

Thanks.
I'm in Bangkok. So I guess my immigration office is Chaengwatthana.

Does anybody know how they count the 60 days of a Covid extension at Chaengwatthana?

Ubonjoe has your question covered.

So now you may as well obtain your 60 anytime soon.

The day your current extension ends.

You can make an appointment to do it here. http://203.151.166.132/immigrant_queue/booking/

I had mixed experience in Bangkok. First covid ext was from the date of application.  They asked if I wanted to do it that day the first time since I was 10 days before the tourist visa extension expired and they said it would be from that day.  I did because I had paid the tollway and half tank of gas for a friend to drive me there and I was planning on leaving the country quickly.

The second one, I waited until 2 days before the expiration so that it wouldn't matter so much whether they used expiration date of application date. And the date is 60 days from the end of the first, not the date I applied.  So maybe leaving too much time until expiration the first time led them to use that date.
