Hearing aids

Thanks Phil, Have you bought hearing aids their?.. I Live close by and never noticed this place thanks.

I bought from a shop on Suthep Road. Those hearing aids lasted less than two years, being repaired three times in that time, then they refused to honor the company's two-year guarantee, telling me it was only one year. Never again...

I have been a long-time hearing aid wearer. Almost 40 years. I wear two aids, one in each ear. Of all the various brands I've tried over the years, I keep coming back to an on-line company in the US called "HearSource." They carry well-known brands at discount, and also have their own 'house brand' for $999 each. These are twin microphone, USER programmable (so no need to keep paying an audiologist to adjust the setting as you hearing changes, you can do it yourself with the software and training provided by HearSource. The hearing aids have four user-customizable settings (I have mine set for 1) General conversation, 2) directional mic for noisy restaurant settings, 3) listening to music, ) and 4) is set to mute for motorcycle riding. Just a press of the button changes the program, while another button adjusts the volume. The sound quality is excellent!  This company also has a 'flat rate' charge for repairs. No matter how severe the problem, the low flat rate covers all repair/replacement.

I have dealt with HearSource for almost 20 years. My mistake was buying locally a few years ago. After realizing that I'd lost several thousand dollars by buying locally, I went back to HearSource last year and am very glad I did!

Hi Folk guitar, THankyou for that valuable information, I will look into this further. Have you had any of Hearsouce products sent to Thailand? I had heard of a guy in Chiangmai who had hearing aids sent  from the US and customs at this end gave him  hard time with duty etc. Also how do your hearing aids hold up in the hot weather with moisture?

Thanks again for the info much appreciated.

Not for me, for my father. Professional. But try to book the days the doctor (woman) is here. We went back 11 months after to fix a noise problem. It was broken, under warranty. They send the piece back to BKK, fixed it, and the cute nurse bring it back directly to my family hotel less than a week after.. what a service, all for free !

I will have to go one day ... no time now ????

Phil.

In the past 20+ years, I've had HearSource hearing aids shipped to me here in Thailand twice. I got lucky with Customs. They missed me both times.  Hot weather isn't a problem but moisture Is. So every night, the hearing aids are put into a special electric drying device (see photos) that blows warm, dry air across the devices. There are two settings; 3 hours or 6 hours. There are many different hearing aid drying devices, some using electricity, others using Silica Gel drying beads. Using this every night lets the devices last a nice long time. Hearing Aids 'should' last 6-8 years if taken care of, even here in Thailand.
I buy my batteries by the case, using Ebay. MUCH cheaper this way, and you will need batteries. Used all day, batteries will last 1-2 weeks depending on the size.
