Cold Turkey with potatoes and anchovies

by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall

Serves 4-6

Preparation time less than 30 mins

Cooking time 10 to 30 mins

Ingredients

leftover Cold Turkey, choppednew (waxy) potatoes, ideally Pink Fir Apple or Ratte

½-1 small can anchovies, chopped roughly (according to the amount of turkey you have and how much you like anchovies)

½ clove garlic, crushed to a purée with a fork

few spring onions, or 1 small red onion, sliced finely

olive oil

lemon juice

fresh parsley

Method

1. Mix the anchovies with the garlic, 1 tbsp of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon.

2. Toss this mixture with the turkey and onion and leave to macerate while you boil some new potatoes until tender.

3. Slice the potatoes when still warm and toss immediately with the turkey and some chopped fresh parsley leaves.

4. Other possible additions include black olives, capers and sun-dried tomatoes.

Add your own bits and tinks as you please :D

Cold Turkey- John Lennon

Temperatures rising

Fever is high

Cant see no future

Cant see no sky

My feet are so heavy

So is my head

I wish I was a baby

I wish I was dead

Cold turkey has got me on the run

My body is aching

Goose-pimple bone

Cant see no body

Leave me alone

My eyes are wide open

Cant get to sleep

One thing Im sure of

Im in at the deep freeze

Cold turkey has got me on the run

Cold turkey has got me on the run

Thirty-six hours

Rolling in pain

Praying to someone

Free me again

Oh Ill be a good boy

Please make me well

I promise you anything

Get me out of this hel_l

Cold turkey has got me on the run

Oh, oh, oh, oh

True Story about COld Turkey:

I was about 20/21, walking home at lunchtime from an all night party.

Saw this beautiful girl. I mean STUNNING. The kind of girl who isn't just attractive, but that if you DON'T try to ask her out, you'll kick yourself for years...

so she walks into a travel agent. I quietly finish my cigarette and then go in the shop, casually. I picked up some random brochure -family holiday in a club med in greece, or something - and glance out the corners of my eyes, to scan the shop for the young lady's whereabouts.

Alas, the lass was nowhere to be seen.

Somewhat mystified, as there was no-one else in the travel agents, I start to make my exit, when I hear a lovely, soft, peachy voice, "May I help you, sir?"

It became immediately apparent that she worked there, and had returned from her lunchbreak, and was therefore sitting on the other side of the counter. So I immediately replied, "yes, I believe you can!" and sat down opposite her.

This lady was stunningly attractive, did I mention?

Anyway, cut a long story short... She managed to sell me a 1200 Dutch Guilder ticket to Thailand

Best thing a girl has ever done for me.

Even if she did reject me COLD TURKEY.
