Think man , do you think that Pfizer, Moderna , Sinovac , Astrazeneca, Novavac and other companies just give the formula to every country around the world so each can make their own vaccines? They are not that altruistic. That's why countries have to buy or be given vaccine from the developers of the vaccine.. The US was given the formula for Astrazeneca (British Product) because the Brits didn't have the capacity to crank out enough vaccine. Thats why Britan also gave the formula to Thai Bioscience to make AZ here and distribute the vacccine here in Thailand and around Asia. The mRNA vaccines would be difficult to make in most countries. They don't have the specialized pharmaceurtical infrastructure or trained people, plus supplies of the raw materials. BioNTech said that they were making use of their patent available during the pandemic. Unfortunately the White House is remarkably obtuse. Perhaps they were having issues in early January and didn't notice this op-ed in the NY Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/12/opinion/world-covid-vaccines.html Sadly the CDC and Fauci have been silent on this AFAIK. This would be much more practical than Biden's proposal for patent waivers at WTO, which will not be accepted by EU and UK. They realize that the waiver is a red herring planted by India & South Africa. This article about increasing the global vaccine supply is available on PubMed and numerous university websites, so a lot of people are aware: https://science.sciencemag.org/content/371/6534/1107 This is written from an economic standpoint, to make clear that increasing vaccine supply is a no-brainer. The weakness of this proposal is availability of facilities. For example, a friend told me that his company's vaccine now in Phase 3 already has capacity lined up to produce 500mn doses per year. So this "spare" capacity is not available for Moderna & Pfizer. Moderna was given EUA last December, but additional lines are not coming on stream until the fall in the US and January in the EU. However, even if it took 6 months to add facilities under emergency DPA procedures in the US, that would still be worthwhile. The White House should have launched this months ago. On the other hand, the economic claims of the article are important, and worth reading. 1

I assume that you need to update your vaccination status as well if you want to travel.
