Set up mobile testing units, exactly the same way they do near cluster area's, in addition to drop in centers, walk in centers that are free of charge. The problem is Thailand makes everyone including Thai's pay for a test if they do not have symptoms or have been identified near a cluster/close contact.

Lets get this straight, where have I mentioned China, Russia or anywhere else. I was talking about Bangkok the panic of those not being able to get a hospital bed despite having a serious case of covid.

 

Try a little logic, nobody said the whole country is in panic mode.

I think it’s always been known that sinovac, and other vaccines for that matter, have a lower efficacy against delta. So I suppose no real surprise that some people have got it.

 

what I find worrying is that delta is spreading through the provinces. It must be going like wildfire given the experience in other countries.

Stupid arguement. We are talking here about people suffering and I don't use this word lightly and dying because they can not get proper medical care because there are to many patients and not enough medical care.

It's important to understand even with two doses you can still get COVID.  Nobody is disputing this.  But chances are you will be just fine.

Chances are also you might not and chances are you can still transmit the variant. This variant is very new so personally I would be careful about speculating on the consequences of vaccine breakthrough.

In England that have just started setting up “pop up” centers in football stadiums, shopping malls etc.

 

the thing is that the public needs to have a certain mind set that testing is good. It tells you about your health. Do it weekly, stay informed about your body. Take isolation measures if positive. Then people WANT to be tested.

 

in Thailand you have the opposite. Testing costs money, testing positive means you are punished.

 

leadership is required to get the nation pulling together because everybody is in the same boat. Consistent messaging re: Covid prevention behavior, testing, isolating if positive, vaccination. Over and over. 
 

nonsense about tourists coming, opening in 120 days etc, just promotes the wrong message that everything is ok and that the nation is not in a fight against a virus that can wreak havoc if not checked.

On a lower level....would not use the word panic, however in relation to supply of vaccine, I have noticed that I've certainly become anxious. Previously felt that other vaccines would become available at a cost. 

Not so confident now.

This must be reiterated: A @oc_ccsa sub committee called for a week-long lockdown in and around Bangkok, PM Prayut insisted to consider “economic effects” too - and then goes ahead targeting only restaurants and construction camps, while most others remain more or less open.

It was the driving factor in my getting the Astrazenica vaccine last week.  Still unsure what will arrive by years end but at least I have a little bit, well possibly, of some onboard help now.  Have to wait until the 16th of September for the second jab.  Feeling bad my GF has to go to one of the immigration centers for migrant workers to do her 90 day report this week here in Bangkok.  You would thing they would give them extensions like last year.

In the coming week I will probably decide whether to decamp (no pun intended) to California in July, and stay away for 6 months or a year. I have good reasons, and a place to stay. I believe the first step is to get a test to see if I am currently asymptomatic, as I assume that would preclude my flying for a while. This even though I had a first jab of AZ 5 days ago. Are the self tests mentioned above for real and any good? Or would anyone care to recommend a place in Bangkok? I just got started on this and do have lots of people to ask. Thanks.

Definitely. We tend to forget about them. Majority of expats here that are in relationship, it would be with Thai.

Of course we can do our reports via mail (BTW folk, online down again) 

No one should be made to 90 report in person currently. imo.
