A night-time curfew has been imposed in Thailand’s southern province of Songkhla, from yesterday (Wednesday) until July 29th, amid ongoing daily new infections of between 133 and 216 over the past week.

People in the province may not leave their accommodation between 10pm and 4am each night, while social gatherings are discouraged, to get the spread of the coronavirus under control, said Songkhla Governor Charuwat Kliangklao today.

Exceptions are being made for movement at night related to medical treatment, rescue, the transport of essential goods and medical equipment, banks’ cash, postal services, commutes of officials on duty, those commuting from the airport or on public transport and others with unavoidable reasons for being be out.

Quite amazing that Covid is more transmissible for those 6 hours of the middle of the night.

Songkhla must be the epicentre for covid in Thailand - what part of Bangkok is it ?

Yes it is a phenomena unique to Covid.  If you have 2,400 customers coming into a 7/11 daily over 24 hours or 200 per hour, they will transmit more virus contamination that if you lock the 7/11 down allowing it to be open for only 12 hours a day and putting 400 customers per hour in contact with each other.  Yep sure makes sense to me.

Gotta let those ultra clean markets operate all day as normal.

Yea Funny that ain't it .

That's the time Most people are Sleeping.

So what's the use if people are Sleeping to tell them not to go out?

Perhaps they ought to try 7pm to 6am, and I don't just mean Southern Thailand, apply that & more to the whole country if they are serious.

It's not new, we've had this curfew since May, they've just extended it another month. Idea is to keep the local youth, especially the bike racers, from gathering at night.
