I currently have a non-o visa which I have been extending yearly for the last 3 years. The extension will expire in September when I will still be in the uk. Can I extend the visa for another year with the Thai embassy I the uk . Or would I have to start by getting another 60 day non-o visa based on marriage and then extend that on the basis of retirement when I return to thailand in October

info would be appreciated

You cannot get an extension of stay in the UK.  You can get a single entry (90 day) non-O based on either marriage or retirement.  Alternatively a tourist visa and get the non-O once you're back in Thailand.

Thanks for the reply . On a similar matter does it matter what province you get your extension. Always got mine in sa kaeo as that is where I stay. If I took the Phuket travel option , I take it I could extend my current visa in Phuket ...

You could do it in Phuket after you change your address to there.

If not living in Phuket it would best to apply in Sa Kaeo.

After your 14 nights in Phuket you are free to travel back to Sa kaeo if you want.

Provided, of course, that his current extension does not expire during these 14 nights!

The problem is I would be in phuket when it expired.

Could I not extend quoting the hotel as residence and then when I move back to Sa kaeo submit another TM30 with the Sa kaeo address.  Or does the new address have to be submitted at the Phuket immigration as that is where the extension is done

You would not be able to apply for the one year extension in Phuket with only a hotel address.

You could apply for 60 day extension to visit you wife and then during the last 30 days of it apply for the one year extension.

Thanks for that Joe. My wife would be with me .

so I would not be returning to see her, does that matter. She does have an elderly father and daughter .

wondering whether to just get a new visa in the uk and come after the 15th Oct !!

Would it be best to get a non-o based on marriage or retirement, I do have the required amount sitting in Thai bank for retirement ,but I would obviously not be able to get the book updated ,,!! Just wondering which would be easier, documents wise

regards

It does not matter that she is with you and in fact she has to be with you when you apply for the extension.

It would be easier to apply for the extension rather thang going through the online visa application to get a new non-o visa.
